New Star Tours what changes?

Now that we know the opening date of May 20th, any idea how the Star Tours will be different? I am really looking forward to riding over Memorial Day week. I hope I don't offend anyone but the old Star Tours ride did not have much to offer. It seems that they could do so much more. I am hoping for some big changes!! What has anyone heard about the changes?

I heard there was a new 3d movie, but I hope it is totally changed on the inside. I found the ride to be very rough, hope it is better.

Star Tours: The Adventures Continues includes an entirely new 3D version of the ride, which will include locations and characters from both the original trilogy (Chewbacca, c-3PO, R2-D2, Aqualish. Bith, Rodians, etc) and prequel trilogy (like Naboo citizens and Geonosians) as it takes place after the events of Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope. One action sequence will feature the Star Tours vehicle is now going to be chased by Boba Fett, and Admiral Ackbar holographically communicates with the passengers.

The new attraction will take voyagers — for the first time ever — to Coruscant, as well as other destinations in the Star Wars galaxy. While Bespin, Endor and Alderaan are also mentioned in the promotional tourism video for the Star Tours Travel Company, DisneyParks features a disclaimer “we cannot confirm that you will travel to any of the destinations shown in this video . . .”

Disneyland Resort President George Kalogridis inadvertently announced during D23′s “Destination D” event that the new ride will feature 54 possible different experiences. That excites us but we wonder just how different these 54 possibilities will be. We didn’t report this fact when it was revealed as we were waiting for more infomation about how this would be handled, but nothing has come out since. Does anyone know any more about this bit of news?

We also recently learned that composer Michael Giacchino (Lost, Up, Star Trek) will score the new ride.

It was originally revealed that the StarSpeeder 1000 series spacecraft would be flown using one of the latest AC-series Tour Droids, a new character named Ace. Well it turns out that might not be the complete story. Imagineers “decided to take the story in a very different direction” after having “discussions with George Lucas” during the course of production. We don’t know exactly how this will play out, but C-3PO will appear as the pilot of the new ride, replacing the AC-38 droid better known as Ace.

I hope so, or at least refurbished them. They were getting old.

I remeber when the star tours came out at DL, it was like nothing we had gone on before. We had to wait about an hour to get on it,we thought this was the begeing of a new way to build rides. Now today Its old,and out dated LOL. I am to looking forwqard to the new star tours but will still have a soft hart for the old one.

Sounds like some cool changes! I agree it would be nice if the space vehicles were changed. This could be like Soarin except in a space theme. I don't know about the smell vision. Could you imagine what Chewie's breath would smell like?

On the 54 different experiences, its like a combination in mathematics.

Note that I do not guarantee that this is how it is done, but it fits all the descriptions.

The "travel experience" will be divided into 4 distinct segments. Think of it this way - if the ride was 4 minutes, each segment would be 1 minute (if divided evenly).

Three of them will have one of three possible scenes each (each segment will have a unique set of three scenes).

One of them will have two possible scenes. That segment could even be a "bookend" - a common starting and ending scene.

That gives 54 possible combinations.

So, as an example (and only the podrace segment is confirmed, anything else I'm just thinking of examples), you could have a ride of:

Tatooine podrace - Battle over Coruscant - Asteroid Field - Arrive at Endor

another could be

Battle on Hoth - Death Star Trench Run - Mustafar lava fields - Arrive on Coruscant

and a third:

Tatooine podrace - Death Star Trench Run - Asteroid Field - Arrive at Endor

When we were at Star Tours last Feb there was a wonderful cast member. It has always been or DS's fave ride-they are Star Wars CRAZY!! She told us that there would be 8 spots in the ride where the "movie" would be able to change and it would be random, how each ride would be. It sounds like fun and we can't wait to try it out in May!
