How long was it to finalize your purchase from the time you told the salesperson you will sign up?

If you're wanting to know how quickly you can make a reservation, it can often be done in the same phone call in which you agree to buy--later that same day at worst.

You'll still have to sign and notarize a number of documents and wait for the closing to occur before there is actually a deed in your name. That entire process could take several months, and is dependent upon the resort's construction schedule. And it will probably be several months before you could make your first stay--ask your Guide to confirm the exact date.

But one of the benefits of buying direct is that you can at least get a reservation on the books almost immediately.

DH and I went to Open House yesterday for SSR and if we decide to buy we will not have our first payment til September. Our points will also start in September. They are still building so that is why we have to wait. I'm not sure if this helps you any but just thought I would share that info.

I also purchased recently and I think that they said something about being able to begin using the points as of June....even though my first payment won't be made until August/September.....I wasn't intending to USE them that soon, so I didn't pay a WHOLE lot of attention to that point....but I'd definitely ask the question, if that's what you had in mind!

If you just bought SSR points, you can book right away but can not stay until your building is completed and open. In our case, our SSR unit will become available on Aug 2nd. We can book immediately as long as the dates for staying are after Aug 2nd.

We put our $500 down at the very end of Feb., and our closing is set for early June.

More info... We were able to make our first DVC ressie after we received the papers in early March, included in them were our temporary membership cards. We received our permanent membership cards last week though...they state that we are members since April 2005. I didn't think our membership would officially start until after we close in June! Oh and our Use Year is August.
