New SSR enhancements coming!

Thanks for posting this info! When I was at SSR in May, many CMs said that a new feature pool would be built in the last phase. They definitely used the term "feature pool," though given the size of this "race-track" themed pool, I have to say that it will not really be a feature pool. Sounds like the real feature will be the water-play area.

The interactive water area should be a nice touch. I've been seeing a lot more of those small interactive water features at other resorts (not Disney) and if its anything like that it'll be a big hit with the kids.

I used the term quiet pool. Vacation Magic called it a leisure pool.

In any case, it's not be being called a feature pool — Disney's term for pools with slides and other special features.

The "interactive water area" sounds promising. If it's anything like the water play area at Horizons by Marriott in Orlando, it should be be a lot of fun for kids.

I agree, if it's anything like Marriott's Horizon resort's interactive water play area, it will be really fun for the kids and a nice addition to Saratoga.

What is it like? I've never seen the Marriott one?

Here's some pictures from our stay at Horizons Marriott.

Pictures 10 through 15 have some shots of the interactive play area at Horizons. It's an adorable resort. It's got two pools with themed slides, a miniature golf course, and the water play area. I've got shots of the feature pools/slides, too, on the picture tour above.

We were so impressed with Horizons that when we found a resale week (at a good price) for an EOY (every other year week) we bought. But we bought at the one in Branson, MO, which reminded us of VWL. We really like the family friendliness of Marriott Horizons.

littlestar,

Your pictures of "Horizons by Marriott Vacation Club at Orlando" are much better than Marriott's official pictures! Thank you for posting.

You pictures show that DVC is not the only game in town when it comes to beautiful, fun, family-friendly timeshare resorts in Orlando.

You're welcome. I was so surprised when we stayed there at how nice it was for families - I think it's a hidden gem. Honestly, the employees at the resort were so nice and everything so clean that I would have thought I was staying at a DVC resort if it would have had a Disney gift shop. ;)

[QUOTE/]It’s there that Members and Guests will find a 2,490-squarefoot, racetrack-themed leisure pool, a 1,257-square-foot interactive water area and a 118-square-foot pool. The area also will include restrooms, laundry facilities, the Backstretch Bar and a barbeque pavilion (a second barbeque pavilion will be located in The Carousel section).

It seems like a lazy river would fit nicely in that "ractrack-themed leasure pool".

But DVC is not in Orlando and that makes a huge difference. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know the square footage of the Donald water play area at High Rock Springs? I am not good at guestamating square footage and I am trying to figure out how much bigger the new water play area would be.

Thanks!

Going by some pix I just looked at and given it's irregular shape, in the range of 100-150 square feet. :scratchin

No Les, No Moore. :hmghost:

I think the "2,490-square-
foot,racetrack-themed leisure pool" will be similar to that of a lazy river or similar to that at storm-a -long bay. I do not think they will put in a water slide. I hope it will be big enough to support the size of the resort. It will be interesting to see how this scattered layout will be received by the quests/members. The BCV was well designed with all the pool facilities in one area, that includes a pool gift shop. Only time will tell????????

Hmmm....a lazy river "race track", now that would be cool! Put the kids area and hot tub in the center. Have a bridge that spands the lazy river to look like a starting gate.....And There Off! :goodvibes

That is awesome! I wish you were on the original design committee of SSR. The resort probably would have been sold out by now and SSR would have been listed as a primer Disney resort. Hopefully they will read your post.
