Looks like they increased it to 60 inches as of this AM

where did you read that?? The DL website still says 40 inches

I believe they have just made a minor change, the new 60 inch rule is for the front seat only, all other seats are still 40 inches. I just read this over on miceage.

What??? If that's true you need to be 5' to ride! There are a lot of adults that can barely make that!!

Please someone update us if this is true or not!

i hope its only front seat. wow my son wouldnt be able to ride again to get better photo. for a long time.
im 5,1 so guess im safe

oops! Guess I'll be wearing stilletos to DL now!;) I am barely 5'1. YIKES! I wonder why they changed the height requirement?????:confused3

I was reading on another site they raised the height req for that very front seat, because some kids could slip under the front of the log (inside, I imagine, LOL) and get hurt?

I dunno...I think if someone's slipping down there they are doing that on purpose.

It was on www.mouseplanet.com.

How many years has that attraction been open??

Wow I am in total shock....

Must have been some sue happy jerk....

Blackjackdelta, are you reporting from DL and this is what you saw, or is the info just from the mouseplanet mini-article (which was just "people online reported this and one person called DL about it)?

What!?! That is just stupid. 60" is 5 FEET tall! I'm barely 5'2"! My son (although tall) will be 14 before he can ride that! :headache:

We just got back from DL yesterday - and I can agree that they changed the height requirement to 60 inches for the front seat only (I probably couldn't make it :rotfl: ) The change did happen while we were there (DD rode in the front seat on Wed, but couldn't Thurs), and it was this way the whole trip (we rode the ride at least 15 times :lmao: )

WHAT!!!!:scared1: NO WAY!!! I am just shy of 5'0.. im a shorty, what the heck... thats it im gonna have to stand on my tip toes a bit... The front seat on splash is the best. I always tell everyone that its my seat and not to take it :lmao:

It has not been updated on the DL website and I have to wonder if they will put it up on there...

I just can't get over it... my oldest DD can ride Hulk but is too short for the front seat of splash at DLR.

And for those who dont happen to know.. at WDW Splash Mountain you sit side by side, at DLR you sit single file all in a row..

Not sure if this will change (as the height requirement did change during our trip), but it was not like they had a bar that you had to measure up to - they were simply eyeballing it, and young children were being told no on the front seat. I am not sure if I could hit my head on the 5 foot bar or not, and they had no problem switching me to the front seat instead of DD. So, in other words, they were not strictly enforcing this policy when were were there (42 inch DD was a definite no, but I at about 60 inches was a definite yes)

This was the first ride DS7 ever rode (when he was barely 6yo), and by far his favorite! DS3 got to ride it for the first time last Oct. and he loves it now! They both love being in the front, so we usually let one of them have it, or ask if we can wait for the front seat if it's occupied.

They're going to be crushed they can't sit in front now, but at least they'll still be able to ride. :guilty:

I have read a good solution for groups of 4 or more is to this is to just ask the CM to leave the front seat empty. That way, you an still have the same order for your family to sit in, but everyone just scoots back a seat.

Depending on the crowd levels - they can sit in the "front", as long as it is row 2. This appeased DD quite a bit - but we were there off season - so it is doubtful that this will work all the time.

Wow, my son is 2 1/2 inches from 60! He always sits up front, so that is really disappointing now. I wonder why that change now?

Here is what the article says:

New Splash Mountain height requirement

Several members of our MousePad discussion boards have recently reported a new height requirement at Splash Mountain, and reader "houseofmouse" contacted Disneyland to get the official policy and learned that riders must be at least 60" (5 feet) tall in order to ride in the front seat of the log. Houseofmouse says they were told the new policy was "due to the fact little kids can slip under the front of the log and get injured." Some parents are upset by this policy because it means that a taller person will be in front of their children during the ride, not only blocking their view but making it difficult to see them on the ride photo.
