hey does anyone know when the new soarin takes flight

i heard 2011, but not sure. i want them to do a global ones, something like that.

what would u want to see on the second screen?

I want them to leave it as is. I don't think they need to change it. It should be about CA, after all it's in CALIFORNIA Adventure.....

I love the California theme, but the one they are showing is showing some wear, if ya know what I mean. I kept fixating on these spots, thinking they were going to zoom into focus and then realizing they were just flaws in the screen or the movie.

I'm definitely not looking forward to the new Soarin'. :(

I like the one that's there right now too but the one thing that's always kind of bugged me is that when you fly over DL, it's Christmas time with the tree and lights up. It looks pretty but I would prefer a non-holiday version during non-holiday times. You're supposed to actually be flying over and if it's the middle of summer, it seems strange to see the Christmas stuff. I actually think it would be cool to have a holiday version during Christmas time and non-holiday version the rest of the time. That's my only gripe. I wouldn't mind a whole new movie, just to see something different but I would prefer that they keep the California theme. I don't like that they're taking out all the California stuff around the park.

Word.

I love it the way it is too. Though I agree it might be nice for them to redo the fly over Disneyland and change it to be a non holiday time. I hope they keep it.

Fix the screen, change the projectors, shoot more of CA and make it a minute longer. I really enjoy this ride, more so on a hot August day.

I agree. I want to see more of California. I feel like they didn't cover it enough. And I would like a non holiday version. And...I would like a choice. How about sometimes you get to see Calif. and other times you get to see a different film. :lovestruc

Soarin' over Florida . . . the sights and smells of swampland. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Seriously, the only thing worse than my idea above is to make a flight sim movie based on the province of Manitoba (where I live). Here, birds drop out of the sky from boredom.

California is a beautiful state . . . feature more of California in the future film.

Soarin is one of the best rides in the whole world. I agree the should have a non holiday theme at the end if the ride during non Christmas seasons, and have it play at Christmas. But I heard through Al Lutz columnss the new soarin won't play till 2013.

ITA! :thumbsup2

see i dont want them to replace the current version. i love it its a fantastic ride. but its supposed to be like flying, well not every plane goes to the same place, so one one side they have movie a(non xmas longer current version) and the other side, maybe they feature different rides through out the year.. maybe australia one month, next month its france.. like keep one set to current version, and use the other side for the other one.

How about they fix the HISTA building, bring back Captain EO then rotate films there. Star Tours also could use some updating. DL is the oldest sister and thus should have the most funding and be kept up to date.

yea as much as i love it
star tours needs a facelift

Al Lutz recently wrote that a "revamped Star Tours 2.0" could open in summer 2011.

Star Detours

While DCA's immediate future and construction budget remains intact and on track, Disneyland has seen some minor fallout from the economic crisis and resulting downturn in visitor spending. The Anaheim parks haven't seen the complete deep freeze mentality that gripped the Orlando parks late last year and continues to keep any meaningful expansion plans for the Florida parks in limbo, but some of the existing plans for Disneyland have been scaled back or postponed.

The first casualty that was once slated to get underway this year for a 2010 opening, but is now pushed back at least a year, is the remake of Star Tours. This new version of the popular E Ticket attraction is the worst kept secret on the Internet, with many people associated with the latest round of Star Wars films constantly dropping hints of their involvement in the new ride. The new version is going to take advantage of the in-cabin effects pioneered in Tokyo DisneySea's StormRider simulator attraction and the randomly changing plotlines that digital technology now allows. But the new ride will also be using new facial recognition technology that the Imagineers want to use to pick people out of the audience and incorporate into the show using the cabin video screens and the animatronic pilot's personalized dialogue.

The revamped Star Tours 2.0 was to debut in spring, 2010 as part of Disneyland's 55th Anniversary celebration, with a nearly identical version planned to open in Walt Disney World around the same time. But when the Orlando executives, who are a notoriously tough sell when it comes to investing in new attractions, put the brakes on not only Star Tours 2.0 but also most other major attraction additions in Florida, it threw the carefully crafted budget into disarray.

The large production and facilities installation budget was created by WDI on the ability to spread the costs between two properties, but with Walt Disney World backing out of the plan last year with no current interest in rejoining the project, the Disneyland version that TDA still wants is now left up in the air. And people wonder why I frequently have Orlando in my cross-hairs.

Luckily, the folks at WDI have been in frantic contact with the Oriental Land Company to try and sell Tokyo Disneyland on paying for the version once destined for Orlando. While the Oriental Land Company has yet to sign on the dotted line, negotiations are looking positive, and the new version of Star Tours may be able to debut simultaneously in Anaheim and Tokyo for the 2011 summer season.

Not yet going away.

As part of the plan to debut a new Star Tours in 2010 that included updates to the attraction façade, the entrance to Tomorrowland was supposed to get an update as well. The AstroOrbiter was planned to be repainted in a new silver and blue color scheme, and the entrance to the land was going to be opened up and rethemed a bit. The refurbishment and new paint for the AstroOrbiter is still budgeted and planned for later in 2009, as the mechanical structure needs maintenance and new parts to allow the revolving planets to spin again. But that new paint job and refurbishment was really supposed to tie in with the dramatically redone Star Tours 2.0 next door.

Still, it's the last bit of the 1998 New Tomorrowland that has yet to be redone, so it's needed regardless of what is to become of Star Tours. And yes, once DCA proves itself and Tony Baxter gets the green-light for his big budget retheme of Tomorrowland, the Astro Orbiter will return to its rightful place atop the PeopleMover station. But the paint job and mechanical refurbishment is still needed in the meantime.

I was a little disappointed when I went to WDW and rode Soarin' at Epcot. It featured California and we were in Epcot, a world showcase! I could not believe Disney couldn't make another one that featured London, Paris,or a savanna in Africa, etc. I hope they keep CA Soarin' and replace the one in WDW.

As long as they keep the hidden mickey on the golf ball that comes flying at you than I am happy! :) (Love that!:thumbsup2 )
Seriously, I do love the current film and definitely think it should stay all about California. But there is so much landscape in CA that they could easily do a new film and probably make it even better!
