New Soarin Video -- To Watch or Not?

The only way I would watch it is if I knew for certain I would never, ever be back to ride Soarin again. Since that's not the case, I don't want to ruin the magic of first experiences. First time experiences are a HUGE part (well, the main reason really) of what made our first trip to WDW our best ever.

I watched it and kind of wished I hadn't. I would have preferred to have waited & watched it on the big screen. But hindsight is 20/20. I also didn't like it as much as the old one so that has also messed with my enthusiasm about seeing it live. If you are on the fence, don't do what I did. Wait until you get there.

I'm trying to hold out! I want to experience it in person, as I hear mixed things about it.
We'll see how desperate I get for Disney news/updates as I get closer to my trip in Aug, I may cave!

I watched it but I didn't pay attention so I'm good when it comes down to seeing it when it opens.

Watched. We routinely watch videos of rides and ride lines in our house to prepare kids who need that visual preparation.

Doesn't feel like spoilers at all to me.

It's not like I watch a ride on YouTube and I'm like: Welp, cross that off the bucket list, guys! That was a wild ride! Whoo. And no lines!:yay:

It will still be surprising and fun when I actually ride it.

I watched it & the preview got me psyched to see the real thing. :)

Soarin' is so much more to experience than the film. If you see it on YouTube on my phone, there is no motion, no breeze, no scents, no feet dangling, etc.

I watched it this morning and I already forgot most of it. It'll seem new to me when I see it next month.

Wow! yes, I watched it and I am really glad that I did. I am now looking forward to seeing the ride in reality even more!

I loved the new video! I am sure the ride will be awesome!

I watched the first few seconds and stopped. I want to try to wait and experience it first hand- don't know if that will happen my next trip ends the day before it opens so i will have to wait until November!

DD and I say NO! Will resist and wait to see with the full experience of being there the first time:yay:

I'm just happy I get to see the old one again - I'm double digit dancing.. Disney in 8 days. However, I'll have to go back soon to see the new one. :-)

But I also really, really, really want to be surprised when I see it this summer.

THIS. My first time riding Soarin' was amazing because I had no idea what it even was. My aunt worked at WDW at the time and when I arrived at Epcot she took me straight to get my FP (2005) and we got right on it (bypassing that 2 hour standby). I was simply amazed. I went on it a few times over the next couple of years. I have also watched a video of it on youtube. What I discovered is that the appeal of the ride is the experience. It is the feeling of "soarin'"through the skies and smelling the scents in the air. I won't be watching the new one until I ride it simply because I want to repeat that experience and thrill without having it tainted and without my mind imagining what it will be like...which ends up disappointing me more often than not!

I do not watch videos of rides I have not been on yet. I peeked at one too many Christmas presents in my youth :sad2:

HAHAHAHA! I know the feeling. I used to be an expert at peeling back the tape to see what it was and then taping it back up!

I will remain strong and see it in person in September! I want the WOW of the unknown first time watching it. Same for ROL (whenever that decides to open...)

At the moment I'm in the no peeking group. But four months is a lonnnng wait. We shall see how long I last! :-)

Since the new Soarin won't be open yet when we go, I did watch it on YouTube. Going to tell you I am still a fan of the old movie! So I am not disappointed that we are getting the first version. If we were getting NO version, I would be really cranky! I agree - it is the whole experience, legs dangling and all. My favorite ride up until now.

I just saw the beginning and then stop, I'll try to keep the "surprise" for my next visit :)

but, I have to say, I'm happy just for one thing: THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK!!
Everytime I listen to that soundtrack I start to have tears in my eyes...and knowing that the new soundtrack it's based on the old won it's a big plus for me :) really really glad about this.
