Ok -- I am new, so bear w/ me. I am very confused by all this pin codes and rebooking after codes are released. My planned travel dates are 1/28-2/6 (end date could change +/-) .. me, DH, 2 & 4 yr old and my mom. (meeting SIL,BIL, 10 & 12 yr olds there). anyway -- when I priced out the package w/ free dining .... since I put in the kids ages, did they take into account that DD2 is only 2 and doesn't (from what I can tell) pay for park tickets ... and confused -- dining package? only for 3+ (how does she eat). Or am I paying for tickets and dining that I don't need to pay for by getting the package? And when I did the package I listed 3 adults 2 kids ... so they priced for tix & dining for all, sharing 1 room ... right? So -- how do I add 1 room only for my mom? I think that is where I want to look into the pin codes ... right? But then will that mess up her pricing on the tix/dining .... or do I price 1 pkg for her only and 1 pkg for my family separately ........... sorry to ramble ... but I am confused.

Assuming you put the age of your 2 year in when you were pricing options, then there should be no charges associated with your dd. If you want to check run the numbers and 'pretend' that dd is also 4 - to verify that the numbers with the real age are indeed lower. Although free dinning may be a good deal @ moderates for your family, it is not so great for your mom, as she will be paying full rate for the room and only getting dinning for one adult. A % off the room and adding a dinning plan for her might be more economical. You just book 2 different reservations, free dining for you, room discount for mom. For example, running your numbers for your dates for your group @ moderate POR standard room w/ free dinning and 10 day non hopper park tickets runs $2766. Mom's room w/ free dinning & same tickets is $2230 v. mom @ room only 30% off w/ dinning plan added and 10 day tickets is $2150. It pays to play around with your choices @ the WDW site. Your dates have either free dinning or room discounts, so you have lots of options. Be sure you click on the 'special offers' boxes @ the bottom of the disney site so that you are getting the discounted prices.
When you book you can link your and your mom's reservations and even request connecting rooms.
BTW, if you are planning on sit down dinning (regular dinning plan) get on your ADRs NOW, you are already into your 180 day window! You can always cancel and rebook if you need to change dinning days around. You can book your ADRs before you book your trip.
Have fun planning.

I'm confussed too! If you added your mom to your package and you all plan on sharing a room?
And now you want to change, take mom out of your room and pkg, and get mom her own room & pkg?

Not sure what resort you are all staying at, but when you phone WDW, ask for them to price out all avail. discounts to see which is the best for her. Make sure they take her off your room, as you will be charged extra for a 3rd adult.

Thanks to both of you! Weird that is costs almost the same for my mom as for my family ... yikes .. I'll to run the #'s. And thanks for the heads up on ADR's .. I was wondering if we could reserve before booking. yes, initally I was puttng my mom in my package & therefore my room .. need to re-run w/out)

YOu can make dining reservations before making the hotel reservation.

As far as your 2 yr. old. The is no free dining or ticket cost for a child under 3. You can let the 2 yr. old eat off your plate or for free at buffets. Some have said they say the child is 3 but then you have to purchase a park ticket so it defeats the savings for FD. I would just let the little one share when possible, and buy a meal if not. As far as the costs, yes, your mom's room will most likely be near the cost of yours. There is just 1 ticket involved though so it should be that much cheaper. The room cost will not change, if in a mod or deluxe, most likely the discounted room will be better for her. In a deluxe, it may even be better for you! The moderates have to be figured out the most. It all depends on the number of people/ages.

for my mom do you think the % off is a better deal than the MYW w/ $200 or $300 GC? That would give her room, tickets and a GC to use toward meals .. right? And regardless of which I choose i can cancel rebook of they put out a better deal .. right? of should i look at piecemealing her's by getting discount tickets, a room thru a broker/agent and then paying for her meals? Can you buy a DP only? I can't find rates on disney site for the DP only.

I priced out 9 day base tickets value & moderate resort: my family w/ the MYW & free dining, my mom w/ the MYW and GC. value was $1831 + $1306 = $3137. moderate $2404 + $1879 = $4283 for a difference of $1146. ... so, how much nicer are the rooms in the moderate? If i get the value, can I upgrade the DP and just pay the difference?

ETA: or I can do a MYW villa w/ free dining for $4163 .. so same price as above for moderate .... thoughts? I am trying to stay cheap (but not at the expense of being miserable), but I think a DP regardless of what we do is the way to go, then I know what I am spending on food.

Port orleans ab section has room's for 5 people if 1 is under 8(i think and can sleep on the rooms trundel bed)! not all room's have a trudel bed!

You have to make sure you get a room with a trundel bed! You might be better off calling disney instead!

What about one of the Fort Wilderness Cabins for all of you. You can get the date range you stated for 3,654.09 with FD and 9 day passes for all of you. (well except the under 3 yr. old) Just an idea. You will get the 2 rooms plus the small kitchen as well. I know only 1 bath but 2 rooms. Another idea is the ASMu suites 2 baths there as well as 2 rooms are 2887.98 for all of you. Some other ideas to throw around. That way you are all together and no waiting for each other. OKW is 3912 for all as well for another idea.

one thing with ASMu, you will have to pay the upgrade for the dining plan to regular dining if you want it. I think it's around 10/day pp for adult and a few dollars pp for 3-9 yr. old.

You can pay to upgrade to regular DDP if you book free dining at a value.

I don't find the rooms that different from value to moderate-the moderates have 2 sinks instead of one and have a fridge which is nice but the moderates are really not all that much bigger.

Lots of folks love the atmosphere of the moderate resorts. I prefer the values that are more compact-less long winding paths back to your room.

Is the villa a 1 bedroom? Which resort? The one bedrooms have a king bed in the bedroom and a sleep sofa in the living room. At AKL & BayLake you also get a sleeper chair in the living room. Would your Mom want to sleep in a sofa bed?
