DD just called to reschedule our AG ressie in June because the princesses weren't going to be available after 4 pm due to a "new show involving them". Anyone have some insight on what it is? Are they in woc?

I don't know but they called me also and cancelled my ps and re-booked at an earlier time and they left me the message on my voicemail. I am pretty sure we do not want to eat dinner at 3:40 in the afternoon:surfweb:

Uhoh-- This scares me. We have a dinner reservation there for June too and it was the only time we were going to be able to do AG on our trip. My 4 year old princess crazy DD is going to flip out if it gets cancelled. This is not going to be pretty at my house.

Sooooo do lunch instead, or eat a brunch and then an early dinner. Then a snack later that night instead of a full dinner. I don't know what the new show is but I do know that the food at AG is worth eating at any time. :)

Hm, that's a new one on me! Weird. Were your reservations indoors or outdoors? I have reservations for dinner on 6/12--haven't heard anything yet but I'll let you all know if I do get a call (and now I think I'll probably have to call Monday or Tuesday to make sure I'm still OK!). We could deal with being moved, I think, but I would like to know ASAP so I can plan. From the World of Color thread, it sounds like we just might get moved. :(

Do you mind posting what date your reservations were for?

I didn't think there was SUCH a shortage of princesses that they'd need to pull them away for a show, particularly later at night? But maybe there is?

However, if they need to close the restaurant early to prepare for World of Color "premium" seating/etc., perhaps...? (As has been mentioned in the World of Color thread.)

If this is really true though, someone somewhere (I forget where or when!) said they heard what they thought were rehearsals for a new show somewhere in Disneyland. I don't remember if they said it was a princess show, and I think they actually said it was like behind the barbecue area (though I reckon they COULD practice there and actually put the show somewhere else, like in what's left of the Fantasyland theater area?).

The only way it would really make sense to me if they had to let the princesses go be in a show, though, would be if they were going to be in some sort of show that was visible from perhaps the outdoor seating area? Interesting.

It was for June 19. Someone on MousePlanet said it was probably not the "princesses" that were unavailable but it may be due to the rumored Priority Seating for WOC...

We have reservations for AG on June 4 at 6pm. We haven't heard anything about the princesses not being there. I sure hope they are there because my DD will be very disappointed if they aren't. If this is a WOC thing, than June 4 should be OK. Now I feel like I have to call again to check!

Well, WOC doesn't start officially until 6/11...... I'm going with the WOC theory...

They won't allow seatings if the princesses aren't there. That is why they are calling and rescheduling people. Can you imagine the uproar - people booking a princess lunch/dinner with no princesses?!!

I have to think that if it was just that the princesses wouldn't be there, they would have called and just offered them the chance to cancel or reschedule if the princesses weren't there, but given them the chance to dine there without the princesses if they desired (which most won't).....

I'm sure it has to be because they can now demand a much higher price for WOC seating or packages..... Kind of.... you had a seat.... but we can get more for it now....so sorry......

Anyone else have dates for being cancelled? Did you have indoor or outdoor seating???

I have ressies at 4:30 on June 19th and I didn't get a call. I hope the princesses wont be rushing out shortly after we get there. Maybe I should re-book our time.

It was me who posted about that. I was at Disneyland, again, yesterday and picked up this photo:

I didn't have my zoom. Now I don't believe this relates to what I heard earlier, but it does seem that is a working theater. They were putting on some kind of show for a bunch of camp/choir/some group of kids. Perhaps the kids all volunteered or something. But again it seemed different than what I heard when I last posted.

AG doesn't seem to provide a great view for WoC, perhaps the screens, but it is far up the pier.

Disney did not call me, but I called them and they had moved my June 12th reservation to 3:30. I asked why and she said she wasn't aware it had been moved, and then when I asked again she said she did know why, that there was a "new water show" starting June 11th and they had to "close the restaurant" for the dinner hours. She assured me it was the same menu (and the same price! :rotfl: ) to eat off-hours instead of for dinner.

Unless they're going to be doing "bad show" things outdoors after 7 PM, I don't know that I buy the story that they are actually "closing" it, but I guess we'll see! (I am sure the CMs have been told they're closing the restaurant for the dinner hours but that doesn't mean that's what's going to happen.)

3:30 is considerably earlier than I wanted, but the other thread says the latest available is 3:40, so I suppose I can't complain too much. We can still go back to the hotel for a break at noon if needed, I guess!

Update from Mouseplanet:

"We're also starting to learn a bit about possible plans for premium viewing opportunities for the World of Color. While Disney has not yet made public any plans for World of Color dining packages, it sounds like there will be at least two different options, including some form of dinner-and-reserved-seating package at some table service restaurants. Reader 3Princesses1Prince reports that Disney Dining called her last week to change her reservations at Ariel's Grotto, telling her that the princesses would not be available after 4:00 p.m. because of a new show. Reader ogold72 says that Ariel's Grotto will stop serving dinner entirely effective May 1 due to World of Color, and also says that the restaurant will be renamed "Princess Palace."

We've also heard that some form of reserved viewing area will be open to visitors who purchase a meal box from the new quick service location being constructed as part of the new Wine Country Trattoria. We're still waiting for details of these new offerings, but it seems clear that guests would need to make some form of additional purchase to secure the best views of the World of Color."

Princess Palace? I like Ariel's Grotto better because it ties in with the sea/ocean theme of Paradise Pier and with the theme of the restaurant itself, not to mention with the upcoming Little Mermaid ride opening next year. I haven't eaten there yet, but I like the underwater theme - it's quite pretty - and I hope they don't change that too.

Well, even though I had absolutely no desire to dine with the Princesses thus far, I am sad that it looks as though the character dinner option may be taken away because I know that is a big draw for a lot of our DIS-ers here, and the food seemed to be unique and unlike anything at other character meals. It is a great option to have.

So if they do remove the Ariel's dinner entirely as of May 1, this will leave Goofy's as the only character dinner - unless, that is, they decide to extend one of the other character meals to dinnertime too??? They should have at least 2 character meals going for dinner, I think, to give people choices.

Well I still have not called back as I am still trying to figure out what to do. Our reservation was for June 14 at 6pm. I am going to wait for more package info.

I just posted this on the other thread.

OK! Here is the dibs.:thumbsup2

Yes there is going to be WOC dinner packages at Ariels Grotto. There will not be princesses at the dinner. Starting May you can call 30 days out to book your premium WOC dining package through Ariels Grotto at 714-781-4400. Monday to Friday 8-5 Pacific Time. She did not have pricing yet but she did indicate it would be priced the same as Fantasmic around the 60 dollar mark. There you have it!!!:cool1::cheer2:

I am calling on May 13 to book ours

I can't imagine Disney would give up this income stream without having something in mind to replace it.

I have to say, this must be one amazing show to consider giving up the Princess dinner and closing Paradise pier early every night.....

I'd like to see it eventually, but not this year. We just moved our park days around to AVOID opening night. I'm not big in crazy mobs.... :scared1:
