I have been running in Asics Kayano's for the last two years and am currently looking for a possible switch up. I'm looking for a stability shoe that hold up on the miles (especially on the concrete). I love the fit and feel of my Kayanos, but cannot find them at a price that I can afford right now. Darn gas prices are killing my wallet!

Any suggestions??

Not to be a jerk, but how much would you pay for an injury to go away?

You have found a shoe that works for you, long term, (I have yet to do so!) so I would do whatever I could to stay in them.

I know...I know. I always do well with buying last years model's at closeout. Holabird has them at an OK price, but I've done better in the past.

Maybe a better way to phase it is...is there any other brand of comparable make up?? Maybe Mizuno Inspire or Saucony Hurricane? Those are the two I've been looking at...

I'll end up buying the Kayano later anyways...I'm just looking for a good shoe for now (that I will end up rotating with the Asics).

Eva, have you tried this place. I learned about it on the WISH and their prices are the best. We get a discount also the code is WISHD. The discount isn't good on your brand or mine (Mizuno).

Their prices are the best I've found and they have free shipping. I will be getting a pair in the mail today from them.

I hear ya Eva! Quite honestly when I started running, who knew it was going to be such an expensive sport :) I run in Kayano 13 and I was lucky enough to pick up an extra pair when my running store was having a sidewalk sale to clear out the old models. They were $99 and I had a coupon for 20% off. The Kayano 14s are nearly double the price I think. I tried on a pair of Mizunos but didn't like them as much - they felt heavier.

I haven't tried the Kayano's though I'd like to. I currently wear the Saucony Hurricane 9. They have done well for me (I think I tried on every shoe in Fleet Feet!). I'll have to buy new shoes this fall and will probably go with them again...though I think the version 10 is out now. I hope they fit as well my 9s do.

Last time I was in Rack Room shoes, I saw the new Kayanos. I was sooo surpised. They were not on sale...still $135, but places like that normally do not carry that type of shoe. They always have a special such as buy one get one 1/2 off so you could get 2 pair or if anyone else in the family needs shoes...

Good luck!
Stacie

EDITED to add that w/ the discount at running warehouse the Hurricane 10s are $85 and you get free shipping and free return shipping...

I haven't tried teh Mizuno Inspires, but I know teh Wave RIders didn't last near as long as my ASIC 21__'s. I have strayed fom ASICs twice with Mizuno and Brooks. Both times I was disappointed. Not saying you won;t have better luck, though.

BTW, teh running warehouse discount doesn't apply to ASICs wither. :guilty:

GOod luck!!!! :wizard: :wizard:

Are you sure you need a stability shoe with a high arch? I also have a high arch and have been running in Mizuno Wave Riders for years, 8000-10000 miles in them.

I look to replace them when they get into the 400-500 mile range.

I have a store that gives a 20% discount on Mizuno's with free shipping over $100. So if you order 2 at a time you get free shipping. I have been using them for years. PM me if you are interested and I will give you the name and the discount code.

I'd suggest getting fitted before trying another brand. You want to be sure that you get whatever works for you.

I have been wearing Saucony for 8 years now. I love my Hurricane 9s. They give me a lot room in the toe box. More so than the 8s did. I am interested to see the 10s. I too have tried Mizunos and was not happy with them at all. New Balance doesn't fit my arch and Asics seem to be too short. Good luck with your hunt! Buying runners can be a real pain.

Wow..thanks everybody for the advice! My DBF surprised me today and got me my Kayanos!! He knows how much I've been stressing over money. Just not a good time to need shoes (we are only a month and a half away from WDW). As far as a rotation shoe...I'm thinking of the Mizuno Wave Inspire. I called my local running store and they said that they have a $10 off coupon that they can give me. I also have a gift cert of $35 for there. I figured it'll end up in the $50 range and I can handle that. Next paycheck...I think I'm gonna take the plunge and go test em out! Hopefully they are a good fit!

Wish me luck!! :wizard:

I also run in kayanos. I got my most recent pair thru finishline .com for $79 with free shipping. I also got a pair of Asics GT-2120 to alternate with (my kayanos always for my LRs tho) that were only $49.

Glad your DBF got them for you!

Becky
