Does anyone know if DCL will use the new ships for the Caribbean sailings or will they be for different itineraries?

Seems like CCL and RCCL use their new ships on their Caribbean sailings and the older ships go to other places.

We're planning our 1st DCL cruise for Sept. 12 2009 :yay: and we're thinking about booking our next cruise while we're on board. I'd love to go on a new ship! Anyone know any details like when and where they'll be going?

We know that the new ships will be based at Port Canaveral. We also know that they will be too large to fit thru the Panama Canal as it is now. ANything beyond that is speculation.

I understand their agreement with Port Canaveral calls for basing both new ships there, so they will be on Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries - although there is always the possibility of a summer away. They have announced nothing about what the other two ships will do, leaving room for a lot of speculation. Europe? West Coast of Mexico? Alaska?

I am going to hope for the west coast, so I can try for a PC repo and so I can hope for Alaskan itineraries.

That would be cool!

Any idea when they may announce this information?

When will the ships be ready? (Sorry, new to all this!)

Right now, the Disney Dream is scheduled to launch in 2011, while the Disney Fantasy is scheduled to launch in 2012.

I'm interested to see what itineraries they come up with.

According to the DCL representative on the 3/14/2009 Magic sailing, the current rumor is that the first new ship will take over the 3-night/4-night itineraries from the Wonder and that the Wonder will head over to LA/San Diego for Mexican Riviera cruises. This is consistent with all of the chatter concerning DCL establishing a permanent West Coast base at either LA (San Pedro) or San Diego and the reports of the port authorities in LA and SD in competition to land the DCL commitment. But it still all is rumor.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I would be thrilled with either San Diego or LA... and the Wonder of course!!!!! Good to hear a "rumor" on a DCL ship coming to SoCal from an actual DCL employee, anyway. I'm hoping that those 2011 itineraries will be released by my 11/09 cruise so I can book a west coast DCL trip! At hopefully better prices than the summer 08 prices were, of course...
