I read that there is now a security check point on the walking path from the Contemporary and MK - once guests pass through there, do they get right into MK?

We're staying at WL and I'm just thinking that it may be faster to take the boat to the Contemporary and then walk over to avoid the crush of people outside the gates at MK PPO.

That's news. Where did you read this?

Also WDW News Today reported it yesterday with a picture of the checkpoint and metal detector on the end of the path. The story said, once through there you could enter the MK directly.

It might or might not be faster depending on the number if guests arriving via the walkway. It is a single metal detector.

No, you don't go directly into MK. Once you complete this bag check / metal detector sweep, you may proceed directly to a group of nearby Tap stiles (turnstiles) for ticket entitlement verification.

As always the key is to avoid bunching guests up at a single "choke point" and also you should expect ongoing varied security procedures.

I wonder if this is going to make the walk even worth while in terms of time savings. Is there a way to leave the sidewalk and jump into regular security? That walkway can become busy.
