New scrapper, CM?

I'm a new scrapper, just went to my first convention, forgive me for being ignorant, but what is CM? I think it is a manufacturer of supplies, but I don't understand, do you have to have a consultant to buy them from??? Is it a club or something? I just use a top loading scrapbook from Walmart and make pages and put them in the protectors in my book. Is there something I am not doing right?

I'm sure your way is great, don't worry about it! CM is Creative Memories, a company that makes a lot of scrapbooking supplies. See their website to find a consultant near you if you're interested in any of their products (www.creativememories.com). You don't have to have any of it, but some of their stuff is really good, so you might want to check it out. Their albums are different than yours (and mine), and use a strap hinge thingy instead of posts to hold in the pages. You make the page right on what attaches into the book and slide page protectors on from the side. Hope that helps!

Your not doing anything wrong. CM stands for Creative Memories. Its a home based business with scrapbook supplies. There are lots of different businesses so plenty to learn about. WOW, That was quick... Thanks so much.. I am just learning. My neighbor showed me her books and I was in awe. So I joined her at the convention and bought some page kits and some papers and a 12" cutter there. Bought some other supplies, like the album from Walmart, etc... But I did learn at the convention that you could easily get carried away with all the stuff that's out there. Like I saw a sizzix machine and all these alphabet dies, that stuff cost $100's. WOWOW! I'll just stick to the basics for now until I get the hang of it...

That is sure right about so much stuff being out there and you can get overwhelmed as well as going to the poor house. I think keeping it simple is the best way to go at first. Then if you feel like trying more thing later then go for it. I am just starting to add a few brads to my layouts and love them. I have a Creative Memory album that I started with, I love the quality but they are bad for me when I can't scrap in order. They are not top loading albums.

Maple I put my pages in between the page protectors without adhering ( think of it as side-loading ). That way I can change them out when I get ready. Plus I don't have to keep taking the straps out. Yes, its a little more pricey , but the quality is what I like and my pages are sturdy. Someone did give me tip about putting washers and spacers in between the postbound albums so that they will lie a little flatter.

Tee-hee-hee! I get such a kick out of this quote. I used to say I'd stick to the basics too. Guess what I got for Chiristmas? The sizzix.
Once you start it just takes on a life of it's own...
