Here is some information regarding the new "test" for rotational dining on the Wonder.

Disney Wonder Tests Rotational Dining Times

On June 12, the Disney Wonder will test a slight change to the rotational dining times. Guests currently scheduled for Main Dining will be assigned a dining time of 5:45 p.m., 6:00 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. Guests scheduled on Second Dining will be assigned a dining time of 8:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. In addition, entertainment options each evening will be arranged to compliment the revised dining times.

This test is based on Guest feedback and will provide greater movement throughout the ship prior to and following the dinner service.

So this means that now, in addition to the usual:

- Which is better early or late seating?
- Which is the best rotation?
- Which night should we go to Palo?

we may need to add:
- Which time is better for early seating? 5:45, 6:00 or 6:15?

:duck:

Frankly, I don't really see this as a big difference. People don't always arrive exactly on time anyways. Is this more to facilitate the servers?

Sue Ellen, you only mentioned the Wonder. The dining times for the Magic are remaining the same?

Thanks,
Robin

We are on the June 12th Wonder. We have early seating. It'll be interesting to see how these new dining accommodations work for everyone. :)

Wonder how this will affect Animator Palate? Everything is timed to the music so will the music and colors vary depending on what time you arrive??

Interesting . . .

Have a great day!

I wonder if the staggered times mean that the different dining rooms will start at different times. Such as Animator Palate at5:45, Tritons at 6:00 and Parrot Cat at 6:15. Not sure, but could be.

Maybe. We just sailed on Carnival, (Glory), and they had two main Dining rooms. The Platinum room seating times were 5:45 and 8:00, and the Golden room was 6:00 and 8:30.

Sorry but this seems like a real pain. :( I hope that they don't do this on the Magic. I can't imagine how they will reschedule the shows so that everyone can see them.

That would make the most sense. Good idea!

Based on my memory and the fact that we always do late seating - I think we could go to the show and then hit any of the dining times. If I had enough time to change inbetween the show and dinner I would think that I could make any of the seatings (providing I was "dinner dressed" when I went to the show). That being said - I think that it would change some of the family intertainment inbetween the show and dinner.

Just sounds to me like the doors will open 30 minutes earlier for late seating and 15 minutes earlier for early seating and it will be a steady stream until all are in.

Sounds very confusing to me, but we'll see. We'll miss it by 10 days (sailing June 2). I remember when they tried to change the actual dining times before (I think it was by half and hour or an hour), and that was very short-lived. But who knows, maybe it will all work out.

My mama always said, "keep it simple stupid".

Yeah, I agree with some of you about it seeming a little confusing. We'll be on the Wonder in October, so I sure hope they get it all figured out by then.
I was just fine with they way things were when we cruised back in Jan.

Not that it really matters, but my thoughts on this...

I think jtjcwise has it right. There would be no way to enforce different starting times in one restaurant. But I would also guess that the starting times will go with the diner. So, everyone in Parrot Cay would be 5:45. Then the following night, as the diners move to Tritons, so would the start time of 5:45. I don't think I could remember: tonight is 5:45, tomorrow 6:15, the next night 6:00.

For relieving congestion, the only area I see impacted is in the picture taking. Spreading out the start time would spread out the demand for pictures right before dinner.

But I think some would feel it unfair to try to get to the in between activities. If I had the 6:15 seating, by the time I get to the in between show, all the down front seats would be taken by the earlier diners.

Hopefully it will all be sorted out (or cancelled) by the time we cruise on Thanksgiving ;)

I will be anxious to hear how this works. I'm not sure what I think of it. Sounds confusing, but maybe it won't be in practice.

I think that's probably the reason.

After sailing Carnival, I have to admit, they had the right idea with staggering the dining room times. I posted in my original trip report that we usually only had two or three families ahead of us in line whenever we wanted photos. It was great! We didn't have to allocate so much time to wait in line.

My first thought when I heard this was that it would help spread out the rush in the kitchen. I took the galley tour last time on the magic, and there are three seperate kitchen areas, one for each dining room, but they all are interconnected. Spreading out the serving times a bit would spread out the rush in the kitchen and probably improve service a bit.
