New Room Reservations

We are at AKL 12-4 to 12/9. Have been trying to extend for about 2 weeks. Only thing available was ASM. Not that I have a problem with ASM, actually love it when the G-kids are with us. But since me and hubby only this trip, wanted to make it special. Also is our 25th wedding anniversary. I had gotten room only on a pin at ASM. This AM checked website and all of a sudden they were showing availability. Called right away and got Beach Club for 12-9 to 12-14. Exactly what I wanted. They also had other moderates and Deluxe avail. Not WL or Poly, but almost everything else. I don't know if they release rooms at some point, or hold them but seems that closer you get to the date, the more that is avail. Yesterday, nothing avail and today lots. I am just happy to be going 10 DAYS and staying Deluxe. Happy Anniversary and Merry Christmas to US
For those of you trying for rooms, keep on trying. I never give up.
I have lurked on these boards for a long while and finally decided to join before this trip. Everyone here has great tips. Glad to be aboard.

Groups that are holding block space have to turn in unused rooms, often 30 days prior, depending on the contract.

That makes sense. Today is Nov. 9th and I wanted Dec 9. Thanks for that tidbit. I will remember that for future use.

I've been trying to add ONE day to my standard room ressie at AKL for the night of Dec. 5th at the discount rate I currently have. So far nothing has shown up. I even inquired about moving within the resort to another type of room and nothing. I'm lucky I have the ressie that I do for the weekend of Dec. 1-5, just was hoping to add another night. I can, however, move to another resort for a discounted night, but was hoping not to move.
