new road at disney?, why?

hey guys, I'm askin here cuz if anyone knows, its ya'll.

On gogle earth, it seems there putting in a nice size new road in just west of coronado springs between it and everest, i know these pics are older cus there just starting to build everest but it seems to be a major road heading between the two areas then heading north.

why? theres nothing really in that area.

do you know?

its not a by product of everst, or it would have been complete before the mountain happened, and its to big (seems at least 2 lanes each wayto me) for a service road.

do you have any ideas?

But will upscale shopping be enough to attract people there, other than people just entering or people deciding to stay at an upscale hotel there?

I never went to Downtown Disney except to go to Disney Quest or the Adventureres Club.

At this point, the western developent isn't going to "upscale" or on the same level as Downtown Disney.

It's more of a Crossroad strip mall development. It's main section will be motel that will be cheaper than Pop Century and some vacation condos. But, much like Crossroads, it will mostly house businesses to service guests that Disney doesn't want to get into (supermarkets, barber shops, drug stores, etc.).
