New Rides on the Way???

I was speaking to a really good friend of mine the other day who is one of the engineers at Disney Studios and he told me a couple little hints as to maybe expect in the near hopefully future.

1st- Spaceship Earth is going to be converted into a rollercoaster-type ride that is both inside and outside the globe. Now this is a little far-fetched but you never know nowadayz.

2nd- There are two possiblities for the old lagoon by Ariel's Grotto in the MK. Either to replicate the legendary Matterhorn rollercoaster from DCA or a thrill type ride based on Disney's Atlantis.

3rd- They are tossing up the possiblity of adding a 5th gate either with the theme of Sports replacing Disney's Wide World of Sports or Disney Villains with the park being mostly thrill rides.

Anyone with any info or ideas as to what else they may have in store?

You might want to post this on the rumors and news board. Most of these rumors have been around for quite a while. They flare up and die down every now and then.

I hope they don't put a roller coaster in SE.

Why would you not want them to put a rollercoaster in SE?

They have enough roller coasters now that they don't need to destroy a ride to put in a new one. I don't want to see WDW become the land of the roller coasters. They will lose a lot of people if they do that.

Okay, the Atlantis thing would be pretty neat to see, but a thrill ride in Fantasyland? Would it be like the Barnstormer in Toontown? (geared toward smaller adventurers)

As far as the rumor on SE, I sure hope that's not true! Call me sentimental, but I like it the way it is!!!

Those rumors have been around for ages.

The ride in Spaceship Earth is said to be built into the infrastucture, so gutting it for a coaster type ride (even though that would be my dream come true ) would more than likely mean they would have to start from scratch.

There are no plans other than a play area for kids in the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea area for the foreseeable future.

As for the 5th gate, they are still working on getting AK up to its potential, so I wouldn't count on that for quite a while.

I believe it's billed as "Wild but Mild".

Whatever it is, I need to get my behind out to the west coast and try it. I REALLY want to ride it!!!!! AND the original pirates...
