anyone see the two new patents that Universal filed for rides?
can't for the life of me figure out what rides they will be for!!

not sure if i'm able to post the article link..

I haven't seen them so I wouldn't know what you're referring to. I believe in the past people would post photos.

I remember I think it was over a year ago, or so and patent photos were released and we were discussing that it would probably be in relation to the new ride (now Hagrid's coaster), but when it was announced I thought maybe not. However, I guess they could have been, as it looked to be with a ride vehicle, that I believe would go into a room, then the door would close, and then change direction. Which we thought was the Floo Powder network related and possibly be for a MoM attraction, but that general description loosely fits the Devil's Snare portion of the ride.

Here are some pictures:

The interactive tower ride features four towers with ride vehicles
universal patent interactive tower ride423713

The ride is interactive, the passengers having some control over the vehicles motion/media. The patent mentions AR, VR, projection and SFX, creating an “immersive environment with which the riders may interact”.
Universal patent interactive tower ride pig
There are also gaming components, with the ride experience being impacted with scores built up by the passengers. It appears that ride vehicle could be affected by the actions of the passengers of another ride vehicle.

And the second patent:

universal patent stacked room rotating lift
The second patent includes multiple rooms stacked atop one another. The ride vehicles are able to go in and out of the rooms, rotate around, and move up and town from level to level
universal patent ride tower with rotating lift side

The ride system allows for flexibility in the path taken, enabling a number of different potential experiences.

Awesome!! Bring it on!! No A-type competition going on here.........😇

Second patent I could definitely see being used for perhaps a tour/ride through the Ministry of Magic.

It seems to match up against how the "elevators" worked in there from the movies.

This actually looks like a more detailed and sophisticated version of the patents I mentioned previously, as I do remember there being four ride vehicles being involved, interaction / participation being involved, and dropping movement (elevator). However, they were not as detailed as this and this is more explanatory. I wish I had the original to compare, however, if they are one in the same (only one having more information than another) then it seems they have been working on this for awhile.

wish i could've seen the previous ones you were speaking about as well!!

most definitely curious about what the 'interactive shooter game' would be!

The article is at hhnunofficial.com
Christopher Ripley wrote the article about the two possible rides.
The diagrams in the article are interesting

Using the search on the board I did see an article we previously posted about an interactive ride in relation to Potter, but the one with actual photos I was unable to identify.

We all have to remember that Universal files lots of ride design patents that never come to fruition for many reasons.

For example, the ride patent they filed that was supposed to end up being the Donkey Kong Mine coaster (on an arm with a false track) from what I'm reading is not being used anymore after test showed that the arm wasn't stable enough so they've gone back to a more traditional track type.
