New restaurants in Epcot

I've noticed in the past couple of years that ADR's are getting harder to obtain. Therefore I'd like to see in increase in the inventory.

This is just wishful thinking on my part but I'd like to see a TS restaurant in the American Pavilion. We've got wonderful food here and a menu that included BBQ, Creole, Low Country, Midwestern steaks, New England Seafood etc. might do very well.

There is room in the Outpost area for maybe an Indian or Russian restaurant. I'm leaning toward Russian only because we don't have something like that here.

What would you like to see?

Especially about the American Pavilion. I too have always wondered why there isn't a TS at the American Pavilion. Maybe we Americans are being humble and disney wants to be sure that guests focus on other countries? (yeah, that's why the American Pavilion is smack dab in the center of the world showcase! ).

well, maybe they figure they have the Liberty Tree Tavern already to serve classic fare, plus tons of TS restaurants in all the resorts etc. Plus you already mentioned that there is such a large variety of American cuisine, maybe it would be hard to cover it all and choose a "typical" american course.

As for the Indian and Russian restaurants, both awesome ideas. They just opened Sanaa (African and Indian fare) in AKL, so I don't see them opening up one in WS anytime soon, but one can hope.

now i'm hungry.

This has been discussed on these boards alot.Part of the problem is most of what we consider "American cuisine" are just other nationalities dishes with our own little flair to it. Because America is such a melting pot there is no truly American dish, and far to many Americanzied other disheto do them all justice. .Now they could do a Colonial American type restuarant which would be nice. But for now what says America more than Fast Food?

MUCH of the fare at the various restaurants, property-wide, is 'typical-American', if not actual American - see RMulieri's post

Garden Grill in Future World has 'American' food; Coral Reef has primarily seafood, but also other basic American Fare; and, frankly, Canada and Mexico are also American

When you look at the number of choices on a average Disney menu, to be comparable an American restaurant would pretty much be restricted to one BBQ entree, one Creole entree, one MidWestern steak entree, one Low Country entree (I admit, I don't know what area is defined as Low Country), one New England seafood entree, and, I dunno, one item from the West Coast. Wouldn't work.

The American pavilion definitely needs a dining makeover! Even if they don't add a TS, they need to do something with the menu at the CS. I'd love to see a TS buffet there, with region themed stations along the lines of Boma's "pods" setup, to showcase the wide variety of regional foods of the USA - Southern with fried chicken, greens, hush puppies, jambalaya; New England with clam chowder, lobster salad, crab cakes; Midwest with BBQ, baked potatoes, corn on the cob; West Coast with salmon, California rolls, sourdough, Cobb salad. I'm sure it would be a hit, particularly with families looking for something to satisfy pickier eaters in the party, and Epcot could use another good TS option.

As far as another ethnicity, if they were to put a TS in at the Outpost I'd like to see something that Disney doesn't have represented yet. Greek was my first thought, but the new Cat Cora restaurant replacing Spoodles will have that covered. With Sanaa opening at AKV, Indian would be a bit of a repeat. Russian or Polish would be good, since there isn't really much Eastern European offered right now.

Nope.It is Americanized. But not American origin.Most of Soul Food's origin is traced back to Africa.It was brought over here and Americanized further in the South, before being adapted throughout the US.

I absolutely, utterly agree.

If any of y'all have done the Illuminations/international buffet/dessert reception Grand Gathering (I forget its actual title), they do something similar to this. They have several stations set up in the old Odyssey restaurant with food from several different countries - a couple of them are "action stations" where they whip up items to order. This would be my first choice for something new.

We'll see what Cat does with her Greek/Mediterranean outpost at Boardwalk. Lots of potential there. I'd be interested in a Russian/Eastern European spot, too - we have a good little Russian restaurant here in town (not what you'd expect in Jackson, Mississippi!), run by Russian nationals, and they stay booked. So if it'll go over in the deep South, I can't imagine that kind of cusine not working at WDW.

I have always thought they should put the old Fireworks Factory from downtown disney in the American pavillion...that would be excellent.

Other than that...Peruvian food is what I would choose for a new restaurant!

There is already great American cuisine at Epcot, at the Coral Reef. They even have beef, if you're so inclined.

Catfish, New York Strip steak, Grilled Pork Chop -- great examples of American cuisine. And America is a melting pot, so you'll see some ethnically-influenced dishes as well, as you'd expect.

Actually, it's been truly disappointing for our last few visits, so I apologize for the "slur" to Appelby's. We've given up on Coral Reef.

But, I have no hopes that a new restaurant would be any better. With the DDP, the economics are no longer there to provide a decent meal at any Epcot restaurant.

So, a new restaurant at the American Pavilion. Really, what would be the point?

They originally had Peruvian food at Maya Grill (technically Nuevo Latino but close enough to Peruvian). We loved it! Reminded us of our two trips to Peru.

Apparently nobody else did since it's now just a steak and chops house.

Maya Grill was definately a great place to eat...back in the day, lol.

While I definately agree the DDP hasn't increased the quality of dining in EPCOT it has made ADR's harder to come by in WS.

And yes, I'm just dreaming!
