Has anyone noticed that a Bonnet Creek or Bonett Creek is being built on Disney property.. you would pass it on the way to Downtown Disney?

Yes, I noticed it a number of months ago when I was there and had a car...it's actually a time-share by one of the big time share groups, though I forget which one. Must have cost them a fortune to place it on Disney property, but I'm not sure they are going to be as "Disney" as the Swan/Dolpin try to be that are in the thick of everything.

Sad that Disney gave up on that land as it was one of only a few places left that wasn't designated marshland in the whole World; wonder who's putting the money up for it (besides the time-share co.)?

I think it's a Fairfield timeshare resort, you could probably get info at their website.

It is indeed Fairfield and it is not located on Disney property. That section of land was a private inholding that sold out to Fairfield a few years ago. Disney originally attempted to block access to the property by refusing to grant Fairfield the right to connect a road to Buena Vista Drive. Fairfield went to court. Guess who won?

P.S. The resorts are much nicer than anything Disney has to offer.

The land was never owned by Disney. Disney did of course have to grant a right of way to the property. Supposedly, it sits on land that was owned by a farmer who refused to sell to Disney.

It's a really nice resort.

Umm...learn something new every day; it appeared they were building a portion of it when I was there so must have been another wing instead of what I though was the initial phase. I guess they do advertise they are "connected to" Disney property and not really "on" Disney property.

If you go to their presentation I think you get a free day pass to either the MK or EPCOT.

Here are a few links with info and photos:

Developer/Architect - archived aerial view of the entire Bonnet Creek development plan (not just for the FF timeshare)

Fairfield Resorts - click on the Florida link to get to the webpage for Fairfield Orlando at Bonnet Creek

Photo Gallery - webpage offering rentals

Enjoy! :)

Fairfields sales people are know to stretch the truth a bit.......

this is not on Disney property and has none of the Disney benefits.

their transportation is not Disney and like most of the off sites in the area - it only provides transportation 3 or 4 times in the morning and in the evening.

that say - I did heard that their transportation was FREE.

this is really big for a timeshares.

Disney is the only one I knew of with free transportation to the parks.

Have you stayed there? How much nicer.. I have noticed it now for a couple of years.. and I thought Disney was building another timeshare...
Can't get a non-disney hotel any closer!!

Of course, this is a matter of personal opinion.
We much prefer the themed Disney Resorts, as opposed to the generic Fairfield Resort. :)

Don't tease us like that, tell us the dirt!

I didn't say it was on Disney property. It's privately owned property, right in the middle of the WDW empire. What are the Disney benefits?

I have never found that to be a problem while I have watched as DVC members stand up on their bus!

Indeed it is a matter of opinion. My opinion is that I want a bigger and better room for less cost.

Not to harp, but again a "better room" is a matter of opinion.
I agree with "bigger", but it's only my wife and me. A one bedroom at a DVC Resort is plenty big, unless we have company in which case we get larger accommodations. :drinking:

I generally stay at OKW and VWL - no stand up on these two - at least so far!!!

BWV and BCV - yes there was standing on the bus. but considering you can WALK (or boat) to Epcot and Studios - then you don't need to be on the bus (my opinion). Disney only (except in the morning) has one bus for all 5 resorts. I would hope during the night rush that WDW would again have a bus for each one - but that is not what I have heard.

SSR I also got lucky here no standing.

I am spoiled. If I plan on visiting Epcot or Studios - I try to get a room at BWV or BCV.

if the MK or Epcot (monrail or bus) I go with VWL.

if all places Epcot, Studios, Mk or AK then I go with OKW.

If I wanted DD - then SSR. (or OKW it is pretty close)

I go back enough that trying to see all the parks on one visit is just not necessary.

SonicLogic - you sound like you own Fairfield. If so you are definitely aware of the half truths that Fairfield salespeople tell all the time.

If it was just one case of it - then not a problem.

I have been to two Fairfield sales pitch and because I already own a timeshare I knew I was being lied too.

One time they even SAY that Fairfield will shortly own everything that RCI has - by putting the others out of competition.....his words not mind!!!

some of the Fairfield property is beautiful - but it suffers from the same problem that Westgate has - a sales force that does not understand the new rules for timeshares. Another words QUIT lying.

Marriott nor DVC lies to its customer - it is time Fairfield and Westgate realized that their sales force put off more people than it could ever attract.

any place that continuous to lies to it customer - well I can't trust an organization that is built on lies - can you?

We toured there last year. I found it comparable in size to Disneys Old Key West, but newer. We are veteran timeshare pitch attendees and called the agent on several mistruths. He didn't like us much. :teeth:
If I could ever stay there through tug, SA or VRBO at a cheap rate, I'd book it.

No, I don't own any timeshare. I agree with you about the sales pitch lies, however, the Marriott and DVC are guilty on that count too. I've looked at all the timeshares in the WDW area (including Orange Lake) and I have found them to be very expensive. IMO, there is no need for me to buy any timeshare. It's much less expensive to pick up distressed points. For example, we've stayed at both Bonnet Creek and Saratoga Springs Resort during the past year.

We've been visiting WDW during the last 28 years and have stayed in a variety of accommodations. We shop for accommodations at WDW and go for the best deal. Sometimes the best deal is renting distressed timeshare points while other times we stay at the WDW resorts, Hotel Plaza Blvd. resorts or even off-site. Last year, we got a super low rate at the Gaylord Palms and on our very next visit, we got a very low rate at All-Star Music. We enjoy "sleeping around"! :rotfl:

No matter what the timeshare sales people say or what the resort people say, WDW is way overbuilt with accommodations. Of course, there are certain times of the year when the rooms are full, but we know to avoid those times. We go when the crowds are light and the accommodations are deeply discounted. We have that freedom.

I have found that the real problem with timeshares is that things change with time. Timeshares are often sold to young families that have the expectation of using the timeshare for 30, 40 or more years. More often than not (better than 60%) the family situation will change due to unexpected problems such as divorce, financial problems, job transfer and/or medical problems. The timeshare becomes a financial burden and people scramble to get rid of them. That's why the resale market is so big!

If Disney or Marriott lied to you - complaint to the management. they can be fired for during that and some have been.

Disney and Marriott want their name and their resorts to sell themselves.

as I have say before I can't get better than my OKW - I can stay there in off season (Jan, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec) for 8 points a night - my maintence fees are $3 a point (I don't count the taxes - I write them off)

if you can beat $24 a night at any place that is rated 3 stars. I happen to love my OKW studio. on this rents from Disney for this same time between $269 and $299 (different seasons) - added the tax $300 and $334. but the really nice thing about DVC is their flexibility. If I want one night - not a problem, 2-bedroom - again not a problem - they are the BEST!!! most other timeshares will not allow this - or charge you extra. If DVC has the availability you can get what you want.

oh you must include taxes - that price includes taxes.

but I also brought in 1993 - until 12/31/1999 we got FREE tickets to all the WDW theme parks.

I dearly love my DVC.

but everyone is different!!!

I also own a cheap (and I mean cheap) to allow offsite exchanges in the RCI system. Now if skyauction was around then I might not have brought that one.

I also have a Panana City Beach timeshares - I brought it very cheap too and I live in Ala - the number one place for spring breakers from here is PCB.... I have tried to get an exchange here for a number of years (again before I bought my SA) and I couldn't (using II instead of RCI)

It is a floating week - I can't get summer weeks - but the rest of the year (including spring break) is what I get to choose from.

DVC is different. Yes there are couples and families - but it also has a lot of singles.

most timeshare (Marriott included) was designed for people over 60 who have retired and had money. So Disney started with that group. I think they got a surprise when they did their first survey and got an average age of 35 (which it has remained at). but hey Disney changed. alots of the adventure stuff - biking in europe, raffing in the West, Africia safaris - came from that decision.

most DVC are Disney nuts -and I would only recommend a Disney nut to buy it.

disney nuts go back to WDW year after year, they stay in at least moderate resorts and they love Disney!!!! THey want to go back each year and can't image a year when they didn't visit Disney.

I agree, that's a great deal for owners like you, who bought low, years ago, and can consider just the maint fees in their calculations. The deal for Fairfield owners like me is quite similar, really. I also bought low... Fairfield points on resale, years ago.

Bonnet Creek has no studio units, just 1BR, 2BR, 3BR & 4BR. So I can only compare maint fee costs for a 1BR at both FFBC and OKW. Your $24/night in a studio would be doubled for a 1BR = $48/night. The same (lowest season, midweek) stay at FFBC would cost me 9,000 points per night for a 1BR and the maint fees on them would cost me just under $32/night including taxes.

There are definitely a handful of times and room sizes that could cost more per night for FFBC so this is not an across-the-board comparison. However, at only $3,000-5,000 for a resale purchase of enough points for a Christmas 1BR week at FFBC ($20,000 less than OKW resale), for example, the buy-in could be an issue for many people looking today.

Certainly, if you're happy in a studio in quietest offseason, that's a deal at OKW. There are other times that would be a deal too. DVC offers lovely resorts, to be sure. Of course, the onsite benefits are great for certain people too.

The FFBC resort simply offers an alternative worth considering. The rooms are spacious and gorgeous (in a style that I love). The pool area is beautiful (loved the piped-in, Casablanca-type music to go with the look & feel of the place). There are good indoor amenities and activities for families. The resort's location and the availability of free daily shuttles make it pretty convenient. For us, the flexibility to do internal exchanges to so many other desirable resorts/locations that we want easily trumps the onsite DVC benefits - for our travel habits and interests. We don't own at FFBC but we loved what we saw when we visited. Just something to consider.
