New Resort in Cocoa Beach - Info anyone?

I just want to thank everyone for for all the information I've read off this particular thread. I had called and made a reservation for May 5-7, 2004 before our May 8 cruise and got a studio for 100. Then today I was reading about this code and I just called and I am now paying 75./night. I'm so excited I can hardly wait until May. Even though it is just my husband and I (we will be celebrating our 35th anniv.) I think we will have a ball there. Shirley I am fairly new to this board and I hope I'm not out of line, but since you reside in the area you wouldn't happen to know of any good antiquing spots close by? We come twice a year to WDW and are familiar with the Orlando area. We go to Rennegar's and Webs fleamarkets and a few antique malls in the area. I didn't know if you knew of any others around the Cocoa Beach area. Thanks in advance.

I did a quick search on mapquest to get an approx. time from the cruise terminals to the resort, looks like it is about a 6 minute drive. A little more then 2 minutes but still not bad!

Shirley- Does this seem like a better estimate then the two minute drive the rep at the resort mentioned?

I'm not Shirley, but I'm pretty familiar with the layout of Cape Canaveral. 6 minutes is a reasonable estimate. 2 minutes is impossible.

Well, just got home, and got an automatid message on my answering machine from RCI saying although this timeshare is listed as being on the beach, the rooms are actually 1/3 of a mile from the beach, or 600 yards. The message also said that the resort does provide a shuttle to the beach. This is so confusing, beacause we are staying in the oceanfront building for our one week stay in a 2 bedroom for April vacation. I know that everyone else who is staying for says less than a week are being put into the Pool building or in the building ajacent to the pool building. So my question is, is the oceanfront building also 1/3 of a mile from the ocean, or are they 1/3 of a mile from the pool? Wouldn't it look funny if all of their building were around the pool area, and then they had one lonly building 1/3 of a mile away down by the beach?

Was talking to DH last night about our two night stay before our cruise. We decided to upgrade to the 1 BR. Called this morning and changed my ressie (once again). Code I used before was applied and now my rate it $140/night. It's more than we like to spend normally, but we figured since we'll be crammed into a 214 sq. ft. cabin for 7 nights we might at well stretch out before we get on the ship!

If I recall correctly, I believe berly1657 was supposed to stay at the Ron Jon resort this past weekend. Cant wait to get an update upon their return from vacation!!
:bounce:

Part of Ron Jon's is just about right on the beach stulaurie - Norm and I looked at the layout and couldn't not imagine it being so far from the beginning - guess they have future plans of making a whole lot more rooms - the Jetties is right next door to Ron jons - it is part of the County beach which has been made into a beautiful and well maintain park - I always took my kids there when they were growing up, but now they have sure spruced it up - it does cost to get in, but it is worth it - I believe it is about 3.00 a car - it has clean beach, playgrounds, bathrooms and a whole lot more and also a place for camping - I really don't understand the layout or what their future plans are since I can not get anyone to sit down long enough with me to give me answers - as for the trip to the terminal, it all depends on traffic - you do travel George King Blvd and sometimes traffic is heavy, but Dave is correct - no more than 10 mins for Norm and I travel that road often especially on Sat and Sundays.
Cape Canaveral has grown so much Dave, you most likely will not recognize it well almost not :D
All stay warm and will touch base another time
Always
Shirley

Ok, I'll admit I'm too honest! I got my new reservation confirmation with my new discounted 1 BR rate of $142.50, but instead of a 1 BR under Unit Type was listed 2BRLO(it sleeps 10). I was speaking to Tuesday about other things and mentioned it to her. I wonder if I didn't notice it if they'd give it to us on check-in? Can you image 4 people in all this space?

The link a couple of posts up is my short report of the 2 nights we stayed here.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and felt that 1 full day was not enough time to enjoy. We did have beautiful weather that full day! If it rains, the kids would have been able to play in the play area or gone to a movie - disappointed none of the movies playing that week were G rated. Most were PG

My understanding is that you have to be in the "time share" to get in the ocean side resort. We would rather have stayed by the main building, by the pool area.

The cart picks you up from the main entrance and drops you off by the "boardwalk" to the ocean.

Keep in mind you need to bring your own shampoo and coffee.

We can't wait until our next cruise to stay here again - 2 full days or rather 3 nights!

I copied this info from a timeshare site I belong to.
