New Resort Announced!

Seconds ago, Disney announced they will be building at a 7th unique location- Abu Dhabi. It will be in conjunction with a local company. The specific location is Yas Island. Few details out yet but it's already been officially announced.

Reading between the lines, I think Abu Dhabi is paying for most of this.

Well I didn't have that on my bingo card! But I suppose I'll need to go so my tagline remains true. When we did our all-parks-in-one-trip back in 2019, it would have been easy to add Abu Dhabi between Paris and Shanghai without going too far out of the way.

Articles I see online make it sound like Disney basically has a licensing agreement working with a local developer and will mainly get royalties and isn't actually investing capital.

I would imagine it will mostly appeal to those who live in that part of the world. Don't see a lot of people from the US wanting to go there when Disneyland/Disneyworld is much closer and more developed.

Don't see a lot of people from the US wanting to go there when Disneyland/Disneyworld is much closer and more developed.

1/3 of the entire world is a short flight to this location. They likely aren't worried about Americans visiting it.

This is true of most of the international resorts. The only one Disney owns is Paris. (And that only happened after the original developers struggled to make it work and Disney bought them out years later.)

And of course the target market is not Americans. But some will visit just like the other international parks.
