Would someone staying at All Stars that makes grilled cheese on an ironing board pay for an owners locker….She can add that to her owner's locker.

I was being sarcastic, but honestly the woman is pressing hot sandwiches with an iron at a hotel, maybe she's churning butter with the ice bucket. Who knows what she's capable of.Would someone staying at All Stars that makes grilled cheese on an ironing board pay for an owners locker….![]()
Well said. I think all of us here like the idea of getting the best deal we can. For some that doesn’t have to mean getting the lowest price or the most favorable terms. They just need the price and terms to be reasonable for the perceived value. To them. Not sure this is the answer you’re looking for but I think the simplest one is that value is subjective and nuanced. And it might just be that we love the resort and we can afford to buy it? This board makes us all go crazy for even a dollar of savings and I’m not here to knock it but we don’t always need to get absolutely the best deal and perceived value to have made a great choice for ourselves and families. The financial and emotional math works for us; it doesn’t have to be deeper or more analytical than that.
Depends on the size of the contract. But for 100 or more points, I'd shoot for $120 and settle for $125.What do you consider a good buy at BLT

Resale could be ROFR’d and then resold as direct. That would impact the ratio.
RIV will be our first test case of how aggressive they play that.
So all the Riviera Resale people cram into Riviera at 11 months, making it harder for Riviera Direct people to book their own resort than if those Riviera Resale people had other options.
...the obvious hedge against this is a fixed week, and that's why I bought one. Even so, I thnk the "resale owners make booking harder" is a boogeyman.
Fair enough. I just want them to keep Toppolino’s top notch and don’t skimp on the flavor on the gelato.Yes, but impact the ratio back in favor of direct. The post I was referring to was that resale points because they are restricted negatively impact the direct owners because they exist.
I am of the belief that there will never be enough to have any real impact on booking the preferred view rooms because resort view are already difficult for home resort bookings. Resale points won’t change that.
At first I was totally against FW, but with a resort that's restricted that would totally make sense, def going to look into it moreWe likely won't know for sure if this will be a problem with RIV for a few years, but it is a valid concern (and one in which we considered when buying our RIV direct points).
To avoid this potential problem and just have peace of mind, we purchased a RIV fixed week (FW).
We are thrilled with the FW for avoiding this problem (if it turns out to be true), but also having our week "auto-booked" is so convenient for us...and kinda cool.![]()
No reason to be against a FW at all. It has no detriment aside from having to call to cancel it when it auto books. I am proud owner of a FW I never plan to use.At first I was totally against FW, but with a resort that's restricted that would totally make sense, def going to look into it more
Did you buy it as a hedge just in case there are issues booking in the future? No reason to be against a FW at all. It has no detriment aside from having to call to cancel it when it auto books. I am proud owner of a FW I never plan to use.
I bought it since it didnt cost me any more than if I just bought the points. But there is a slight chance a FW will be worth more in future due to the way points for certain weeks fluctuate, and FW are rare so maybe just maybe that gives me a leg up over other sellers IF I need to sell.Did you buy it as a hedge just in case there are issues booking in the future?
Isn’t LSL expected to be the same association as the cabins? Oh no, it’s like Poly Tower all over again!0% chance IMO that they don’t do resale restrictions on new associations. They already have the restrictions on the “cabins”….
Even aside from total sleeping capacity, studios at BCV and VGF have 3 distinct sleeping surfaces, but the 1BD at BCV requires my kids to share the Murphy bed…which we make them do for now, because I like to soak at the end of a day running around a theme park, but it’s going to get harder soon unless we make a kid sleep on the very hard floor.Disney kind of shot 1 bedrooms in the foot from the beginning because until very recently, most resorts slept 4 or 5 in a studio and 4 in a 1-bedroom, and the 1-bedroom pull-out mattress quality was abysmal. 1 bedrooms could only really sleep 2 people comfortably until the Murphy beds became the norm. Most families aren't going to even dream of spending double for significantly LESS sleeping capacity.
The King studio (with a twin Murphy?) would be a nice option, especially as Disney caters more to empty nesters and DINKs. Or perhaps a “mature” studio with a large bed and a bathroom with soaking tub plus stall shower.I'm a huge cheerleader for more diversity of accommodations…
Two things I would love to see and would absolutely add on Direct for:
- King Studio
- Family Suite (1 king, 2 queens or 1 queen and a bunk bed, no kitchen or living room)
We are the same at WDW…but I do like the ability to toss in our jeans and anything that gets too gross and not worry about sticking around for a whole cycle…I think it's the latter. We do Disney vacations and we do relaxed pace home-away-from-home vacations, but our instinct is not to combine the two. When we're at Disney we want to be out experiencing the parks, with some downtime at the resort but downtime at the resort is not the focus.
Yess! I use the kitchen at Aulani, but nowhere else. I am just addicted to the W/D now. I for sure would not use the communal W/D Id just be going back with dirty clothesWe don’t really need (or use) the kitchens, I’d much rather have a W/D (or even just a washer and hanging rack) than an oven/stove/dishwasher. I think we’d be happy in the cabins but I’d miss having the W/D and soaking tub.
Debate in our home. I have a queen bed and love it. Me and my husband think the need for a king bed is insane and prefer a queen. My daughter acts like a queen bed is the size of a twin.It annoys me so much that the studios have a queen bed, who sleeps in a queen bed, the queen needs to stretch![]()
My wife rolls around in her sleep and it's annoying af so a queen will not do. When we sleep in a studio she is banished to the murphyDebate in our home. I have a queen bed and love it. We were perfectly fine with a queen and felt exactly like you did, that my parents insisting that they need a king when we travel with them was insane. Then when we moved into this house in 2020 we got a king at home just because it's a very large bedroom and looked silly without one. Now we're absolutely hooked and have a very hard time going back to a queen when we travel.Debate in our home. I have a queen bed and love it.
