I posted this on the wrong board, but you can answer my question by clicking on the link?

Question?

"What exactly do they do?
I know you all say you have had great room stewards, but what exactly do they do? Do you all clean your rooms up before you go out for the day or if you leave it a mess do they move your stuff around and clean up after you? I just was wondering how this job works? What things have they done for you besides the animal towels or REAS pkg and such?

Oooops...sorry, posted on wrong board! I don't know how to move it!"

The room steward essentially takes care of you all week. He/She will make your bed, clean your bathroom, replace your towels, soap, shampoo, etc. They will clean your room up for you. They will fold left out clothes, organize your toiletries, tidy up the desk. They turn your beds down at night and pull out the beds for the kids. They will bring you extra pillows, blankets, hangers, etc. Most make towel animals and use some of your stuff to go wtih the animals some night. Such as put your sunglasses on them or use your child's stuffed animals and make a little "scene". If you want ice they will keep it filled all week for you. They come in the morning and the evening. They are usually pretty good about doing your room while you are not in it. Not sure how they do that, as I went back a couple times shortly after we left and never saw Richie in there. He was great. Our steward was great and certainly earned his money.

Chocolates, don't forget they give you chocolate at night...:teeth:

The joke on our first cruise is that one of the passengers got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and came back to find that his bed had been made. It is almost scary at times how efficient some of the room stewards are. We would leave the room, and go back to pick up something that we forgot ten minutes later and the room was clean.

The room stewards that we have had will clean the room multiple times during the day. In a hotel, the maid typically visits once a day, on DCL they seem to watch closely and slip into the room every time you’re not there to make sure things are just perfect.

Your room steward will also be the one to handle any dry-cleaning or pressing you may need.

Maybe they hide in the closet?!!:crazy:

Thanks for your detailed descriptions Rence and TheWog.
::yes::

you're welcome. and don't laugh, they just might be in there. If you have a good one it will be just as described.

except for those brand new prescription sunglasses. Had to start hiding them :earseek: :teeth: :hyper:

I think the question should be "What don't they do!?"

Our last room steward (Raymond) was awesome! It seemed like he was in our room all day! We would leave for breakfast, come back - room done - come back mid day - something different in room (ice in cooler, fresh towels)- After dinner - towel animals and chocolate on the pillows!

I am very thankful for the room steward - Hardest working people (and probably the lowest paid) on the ship!

In all of our cruises, I have even had some room stewards who actually folded our clothes! That is a losing battle...I barely even fold them at home.

You need to watch that Chinese video that was posted here. Now folding clothes can be fun for the whole family!
