New question in #14: Newbie Disney Infinity Question

Hi folks,

Just bought a Wii U so the family can play Infinity.

Here's my question: Is there a reason to get BOTH 1.0 and 2.0? Or were there enough improvements in 2.0 that 1.0 is unnecessary?

You can not play play sets from 1.0 on 2.0. The figures are only usable from 1.0 in the toy box of 2.0. Same will go for 3.0. Player sets from 2.0 and 1.0 will not work with 3.0 but the toys will work in the toy box.

It depends what you want to play. All of the 1.0 figures and power discs will work with 2.0. However, 1.0 playsets will not work with 2.0, so if you want to play any of those you will need version 1.0. There's a good compatibility list here

Rebels come out on the 30th of August but each one is currently an exclusive at 4 different stores. You will need 3.0
to use them as they are not backwards comparable to 2.0.

Seems you may be a little confused about Disney infinity. The toy box is the "game" but it is like mine craft where you make your own stuff is. The playsets are more traditional games with story lines and such.

Not really sure. Fiancé is the one handling all the Disney infinity purchasing. I know target has one but not sure who.

Another question: Will a playset piece (i.e. the Marvel/Avengers one) and figures work on 3.0? Or do I need to buy a 2.0 Toybox disc in order to use it? Trying to decide if there's any reason to buy a 2.0 game disc or if we can just keep the avengers figures and playset piece we bought separately and wait until Sunday when we get 3.0.
