who has three names, not counting their surname?

I know of two,

One is Madison Renee Christine and the other is

John Mark Charles.

Now I've always thought that a little weird. That being said I have three names for our daughter,
Ariel Grace Barbara
However I want Ariel Grace to be her first name and Barbara her middle.

So how does that work on a birth certificate? Its been so long since I've seen one!

What would her initials be? Or a child with three names, do they have FOUR initials including the surname?

Yes, my (17 yo) son. He has a first name and two middle names. (no hyphens) This was due to the fact that it is tradition to use the fathers first name as a middle name, we thought he was our last child and my dad died when I was 8 months pregnant and I wanted to use his name also. So he ended up with two instead of one.

It is just a long name on the BC, drivers licence, SS card and any other legal document. Also state tests for school. He usually just uses his first middle initial when there is only room for one. But his initials are DLJG. (I think he likes having two middle names)

ETA, we call him by his first name, he only actually hears the middle names when I am really pissed... also, his first name is two syllable, the middle names are both one syllable and the last name is three. It's not really as much a mouthful as it could have been if I picked longer names, LOL.

Not a child, but I have 4 names. I just never dropped my maiden name when I got married. I don't hyphenate either. I sign everything as Melinda J.P. Lastname. If I'm filling in something with only 3 spaces allowed for initials, I use my first initial (obviously), my original middle initial (which would be the J) and my last initial. I leave off the initial for my maiden name. Otherwise, I use all 4 initials.

Not sure about the birth certificate, since I only have 3 names on it. :)

yes, I did that to DS8. I wanted him to have his own first and middle name, so I just added his dad's middle name as his second middle name. It's spelled out entirely on his birth certificate, but anytime I have to use his middle name, I just use his first middle initial.

I have 3 names!! My parents gave me 2 middle names when I was born...one I know the reason for, the other...I have no idea why...lol.

I don't sign my name using my initials unless I have to! :)

DH's adpoted sister's birthname is Jean-Marie Nicole, but goes by Nicole. My BIL's daughter's name is Ava Blu Nicole :confused3 . I think the first two names are listed as their first name and Nicole is the middle name.

I don't know of any kids with double names, other than ones I have heard on the DIS.

John WIlkes Booth, John Mark Carr, Lee Harvey Oswald, Mark David Chapman

JK!

i babysit for a family that all has 3 names. they have one first name and two middle names.

I wanted to give one of my kids 3 names, but my sweetie objected. Settled for the average 2.

My oldest DD (who was going to be my only) has 2 middle names. We only call her by her first name (unless she is in deep doo-doo)

No I don't think I know anyone like that. I dropped my middle name because I hated it and just use my initial.

Isn't this a rather common practice for Catholics?

I've heard they have: (first name) (middle name) (confirmation name) (last name).

You don't get your confirmation name unti you are about 12, and it doesn't go on your birth certificate. I never use mine (Elizabeth), but I have a freind who uses hers on occasion. I never really considered it her legal name, just something she liked to use.

I don't know anyone who actually takes their confirmation name as part of their legal name. Come to think of it, I forget what I took as a confirmation name (hey, it was long, long time ago  )

the onl;y people i've known to use their confirmation name are people that didn't have a middle name

eta my father uses his, Ubaldo :lmao:

All of my kids have 4 names--one first name, two middle names, and one last name. Their second middle name is my maiden name. Legally it is their name, but they can pick and choose when they use the name and I don't put any pressure on them to use the whole thing when they are older. For example, my son's Bar Mitzvah is next month and we didn't use his second middle name on the invitation.

My confirmation name is Priscilla. I named myself after my favorite Patron Saint - Saint Priscilla Presley. :teeth: My very devout grandparents were less than amused. :p

I can't say I know anyone who has 3 names on their birth certificate.
