My wife and I recently attended the open house and agreed to join DVC at BLT. We were able to complete the application and credit approval process before we had to catch out flight but didn't finish up the additional paperwork. They informed us that we should receive a FedEx package with paperwork to complete shortly and would have 7 days to return it to complete the process. Does anyone with experience with this process know when I should expect the FedEx package?

Who ever thought we would be in a rush to spend more money!!!!!

The DVC person that you met with is called your Guide. You will have them for life unless you request a different one. Their job is to act as your sales agent and you should direct your questions to that person.

Typically, you will receive all the documents need to complete the transaction. If you are financing, there will also be papers that need to be notorized and sent back.

Once you receive everything, just sign and date and return.

:) We agreed to purchase on a Saturday morning over the phone. The paperwork was at our house the following Tuesday (so it was only 4 days).

Thanks. . .that's the estimate I was looking for. . .my DW and I work off schedules and trying to get the right time to get documents notarized can be somewhat of a scheduling nightmare on short notice!

FWIW, Wells Fargo helped us with that. We don't even have an account with them (for many reasons), but when Wamu-becoming-Chase (with whom we do have a long-standing account) balked b/c the form says "mortgage" on it, we just went across the street and WF was absolutely lovely to deal with (for notarizing purposes, that is).

For what it's worth, if you need longer than the 7 day period, just call Member Compliance (the toll free number will be listed on the blue folder of your membership paperwork) and tell them that you need more time. Congratulations!! :thumbsup2

Very true. I think we might have waited even more than 7 days before we called quality control after receiving our package and told them it would be a bit longer before we could both get to a notary together. They were fine. They want the sale.

One thing to note if you are going to keep your docs for a while -- your right to rescind runs from the date you put on the docs, so if you hold them for a while, that date will probably govern. Just an FYI for anyone who gets buyer's remorse.
