Hi, We have just bought some new puppies from our neighbour. You may have seen our earlier thread about our old golden retriever, which died. We thought we would wait a year or 2 before buying another dog, but our other dog seems to be getting very lonely and it was convenient having them next door. We will have 2 West Highland White Terrier's on October 4th when they are 8 weeks old!

Hi Richard

I did see your earlier thread about your poor old dog dying. My dog died very suddenly earlier this year, she was only 6 years old and the heartbreak I felt was intense.

While she was here I thought that I wouldn't have another dog, but the gap that she left in the house was enormous. My 'kids' are 18 and 15 and we were lost without her. I actually thought that I would have to start drinking more water to keep up with the tears that were coming every day!!

After a few weeks I wrote a letter to the breeder and told her what had happened and how we were feeling. I followed this up with a phone call about a week later and she told me that she had puppies!!!! What could I say

My kids didn't know what to think they thought that it was too soon and my husband said no. I was always a bit rebellious so I phoned her back after 3 days and said 'YES'

We collected Brodie our gorgeous little Lowchen at the beginning of July, he was 8 weeks old and full of fun and nonsense. The family loved him straight away :)

So what I am saying after that ramble I suppose is have fun looking forward to your puppies and enjoy the peace while you have it - LOL.

Helen

P.S. I don't know how to post a picture or I could share with you!

Thanks for that Helen!!

We are really looking forward to the 4th October, but it will be very different with 3 dogs in the house!! I hope your new puppy is well and starting to learn not to use the carpet as a toilet!!

Brodie has got the hang of going outside to the toilet, although he still doesn't realise that he could go potty while out for a walk. Folk must wonder why I am standing in the middle of the field saying to my dog 'hurry up!' He just waits til he gets home

At the moment we are going through the teething phase!! This can be quite painful :( Two weeks ago he got my brand new shoes from Markies and chewed the toe off. This was a particullary hard lesson and the house is certainly tidier!!

I was at a few puppy parties with Brodie up at the vet's and the was a West Highland White Terrier there. She looked like the sweetest thing ever but could take care of herself, it was comical to watch. Anyway Richard I could blether away about puppies all day so I'd better go and let Brodie out because he is just back from a walk and probably needs the loo!!

Helen

Westies are my DWs favourite dog - hope you can post some photos of them when yoy get them :)

That's great news, Richard:D

Poor 'current dog' - what a shock having a couple of young'un playmates coming on board:p It will be great company for him/her (what is your current dog?).

Good to hear that you are getting another puppy Richard :)

Helen I'm so sorry to hear about your dog dying at 6 years old. It sounds like Brodie is keeping you occupied though ......... and keeping you tidy :teeth: ;) !!

Hi,

Our dog which we have at the moment is a Cavalier King Charles (Male) and is 7 months old, he seemed extremely lonely and sad when 'Honey' died, hopefully ahving 2 little pups to look after and play with will keep him occupied and make him a bit happier.
