New prix fixe dinner at BOG...sharing?

Just wondering if anyone has tried to share a meal at Be Our Guest since the menu changes? My 11 year old eats like a bird and would never eat much of a 3 course meal. If anyone knows, or if you’re going soon, if you’d ask if it’s allowed, that would be great to know. Thanks all!!

You can order fewer courses for your 11-year old, but you will pay the full adult price of $55 because it's a fixed price meal.

The price for your 11 year old will be the same (adult) price regardless of what he eats. Anyone can eat the food that is put down, or you can order fewer courses but the price tag will be the same. If you’re asking if they’ll let you pay for one adult meal and have him share it with someone, that’s a definite “no.”

I meant to add earlier that I have an 11 yo myself and neither he nor my 14 yo are big eaters. We limit our prix fixe or aycte meals to one or fewer per trip because it just isn’t worth it for us.

When BOG changed to prix fixe we made lunch or breakfast plans instead. I know it isn’t the same and I know you don’t get to meet Beast at breakfast or lunch but we do at least get to enjoy the castle so that’s our compromise.

Has anyone with really little kids been recently? We have a 2 year old who absolutely can not eat a kids meal. Would we be ok to bring his dinner in? And by dinner I mean fruit, veggies, and yogurt not a full meal from a quick service or anything like that. He will probably eat a few things off our plates depending what we order but I'd like to be able to give him a decent snack or something while we eat.

2 year olds are free if they eat off of an adult's plate, he would not get his own plate at a prix fixe but he is welcome to pick from anyone else's at no charge. Anywhere that is aycte will let you make him his own plate from the buffet, he does not actually have to physically eat from someone else's. I had no issue during our last visit (8/17-8/24) bringing food in to any restaurant for my 2 yo (I brought pouches of applesauce, animal crackers, fruit, cheese, PBJ depending on what I had with us).

Actually, unlike other prix-fixe meals (CRT, Akershus, O'Hana, buffets) that provided a meal at no cost to my two year old, BOG does not provide any food at all for the two year old and told us we would have to pay the full child price for them if they wanted anything. So essentially, BOG treats 2 year olds the same way as an a la carte table service restaurant at Disney, except that at a la carte restaurants the kids price is $10 or less and at BOG it is $35. I thought it was a bit weird, given our experience at all the other prix-fixe meals was that they always gave something for free to the two year old, even if it is limited (for example, at CRT the two year old can have mac n cheese or chicken nuggets, but not the other kids menu items).

Thank you!! I know they're free and I don't have to order a meal but was more concerned about whether they'd frown upon us bringing in something. I'm all for ordering a kids meal and letting him eat what he wants but not at BOG with the new cost!

I totally understand! Sometimes for us it's not just the cost, it's the wait. We ordered a few kids meals for him during the week and he'd either fall asleep or just not be hungry- it's too unpredictable to go spending all of that money. I can wait for my meal, my older kids can wait for their meal. If a PBJ and applesauce is all that's keeping my 2 yo from getting to his nap so we can eat in peace, then I'm really doing everyone a favor by rolling with that! We ate out for 2 meals a day, every day and not one place gave us any trouble.

Yes! When we were there in December we rolled with his mood but did end up cancelling a few ADR's because it just wasn't worth it! Sometimes a snack while strolling a sleeping baby is just as good as a full dinner for me

Absolutely! I skipped the Indiana Jones show at HS (not a huge sacrifice but I was looking forward to taking 11 yo for the first time) so I could get 2 yo some QS and wheel him around Echo Lake until he gave in to the nap. I'd rather make that sacrifice, or feed him ahead of time if it's obvious he can't wait until the rest of us are seated/ eating.

Disney knows, they're used to it, and I love that it is never a problem (because they could just as easily bark about it). I do bump up my tip if I feed 2 yo outside food at the restaurant (even though we bring his little placemat and utensils) because someone still had to get the high chair, and possibly toss out bags/ wrappers and deal with crumbs. So even though we may not have ordered him food, we do recognize that someone did have to put in more effort.

Our tip at Sci-Fi Dine-In where we did not order 2 yo a meal was also inflated because our server told us to go outside, get our stroller, and wheel 2 yo around the dining room all we wanted (around the outside perimeter). Best TS meal we had all week, solely on the basis of that offer alone!

You were lucky. This is not the policy, and is not always true for every guest. If a restaurant allows the under 2 set to have food free of charge, it is a bonus, not a policy. If @TheRustyScupper chimes in here, he will give yout he 411 for under three dining, but I can give you the condensed version: technically the under 3 set are not free, they are allowed to share off another plate. Anything else is pixie dust.

No, you can't. Everyone in attendance paying a set amount is the whole point of Disney making it pre-fixe.

One of the reasons they changed to one price - people were coming in and ordering one meal or even just a cupcake to experience it and meet the Beast.
