Thanks, OP, for letting us know about the price increase.... it is good to know about, and I appreciate your posting about it. I am really glad for you that Hojo's is going to honor the $99 Entertainment (Retro rate) since it was still listed then at the time you made your booking. Good for Hojo's to do that for you.
Normally I'm averse to price increases, but I do recall paying the same $99 Entertainment (Retro) rate at Hojo's for the kid's suite for at
least 3 years in a row, and to tell the truth, I think that the original (entertainment rate) $20 price difference between the Premium '2 Queen bed' suite [Disney View] and the Kid's suite was always too good to be true; as in, an
incredible value for that kid's suite.
With a kids suite you are getting a
private adult's room

, with a king size bed, 538 square feet, total, of space

-
and 2 bathrooms

, (which is almost unheard of in
Disneyland hotels on Harbor Blvd.) - you are also getting a fridge and microwave in your room - super comfy high quality pillow top beds and high quality pillows.... as well as super clean rooms. Keep in mind too that this is a hotel, not a motel, which means, interior hallways. There are free in-room safes, free wifi internet, Keurig coffee machines with cups/lids to go, a great gift shop in building one where the kids suites are located, very close to many restaurants such as Mimi', McD's., and Denny's; it's a short 8 min. walk to Disneyland Parks from room to front turnstile when you walk in to Disneyland, there is a GREAT kids splash pool area called Pirate's Cove, fireworks view from hot tub

, and a beautiful garden pool. The decor in the room is modern, and tasteful. FLAT SCREEN TVS's in each room!!
So while I
am averse to raising prices in general, [for anything, lol], I
can see that as time passes, there comes a need for hotels to have higher prices, and as thrifty as I usually am ( for example, buying 2 large sodas in the park to split between a family of 4, and asking for no ice, buying 2 churros for 4 of us to split, buying 2 kids meals and 2 adult meals for 3 adult appetites and a kid, 'sneaking' in McD's oatmeal raisin cookies to the parks (one for each of us) to help to tide us over between meals, using whatever coupons and discounts I can get my hands on...) Bringing juice boxes into the park - I will still do whatever it takes to cut corners before our trip to ensure that we can stay at Hojo's, because for us, peace of mind, stability, cleanliness, comfort, and a home away from home is super important.
I
can vouch that at $129 per kids suite room per night, plus tax, during the Entertainment Rate special, is it still an excellent value, and I will still happily take that discounted rate over the original rack rate available OR the DISboard 15% discount that they generously offer all of us here on the DISboards, [by requesting this discounted rate of 15% through 'in-house reservations', OR on-line reservations using code LNDB.]
Anyone who knows me knows I love a good deal. And this is still a solid deal.
