I just called and booked the kids suite at the Entertainment Rate for February and was told that the rate is now $129 with the discount card.

Luckily, the website still said $99 so I got it for that rate. However, I just checked and the website now lists it at $129. It appears that all the other room prices have stayed the same.

Certainly makes the other choices a whole lot more appealing. DI&S frequently has their 8 person family suite for $99 midweek if you book far enough out. That includes the much closer walk, and a basic continental breakfast.

Thanks, OP, for letting us know about the price increase.... it is good to know about, and I appreciate your posting about it. I am really glad for you that Hojo's is going to honor the $99 Entertainment (Retro rate) since it was still listed then at the time you made your booking. Good for Hojo's to do that for you. :goodvibes

Normally I'm averse to price increases, but I do recall paying the same $99 Entertainment (Retro) rate at Hojo's for the kid's suite for at least 3 years in a row, and to tell the truth, I think that the original (entertainment rate) $20 price difference between the Premium '2 Queen bed' suite [Disney View] and the Kid's suite was always too good to be true; as in, an incredible value for that kid's suite.

With a kids suite you are getting a private adult's room , with a king size bed, 538 square feet, total, of space  - and 2 bathrooms :worship:, (which is almost unheard of in Disneyland hotels on Harbor Blvd.) - you are also getting a fridge and microwave in your room - super comfy high quality pillow top beds and high quality pillows.... as well as super clean rooms. Keep in mind too that this is a hotel, not a motel, which means, interior hallways. There are free in-room safes, free wifi internet, Keurig coffee machines with cups/lids to go, a great gift shop in building one where the kids suites are located, very close to many restaurants such as Mimi', McD's., and Denny's; it's a short 8 min. walk to Disneyland Parks from room to front turnstile when you walk in to Disneyland, there is a GREAT kids splash pool area called Pirate's Cove, fireworks view from hot tub pixiedust:, and a beautiful garden pool. The decor in the room is modern, and tasteful. FLAT SCREEN TVS's in each room!!

So while I am averse to raising prices in general, [for anything, lol], I can see that as time passes, there comes a need for hotels to have higher prices, and as thrifty as I usually am ( for example, buying 2 large sodas in the park to split between a family of 4, and asking for no ice, buying 2 churros for 4 of us to split, buying 2 kids meals and 2 adult meals for 3 adult appetites and a kid, 'sneaking' in McD's oatmeal raisin cookies to the parks (one for each of us) to help to tide us over between meals, using whatever coupons and discounts I can get my hands on...) Bringing juice boxes into the park - I will still do whatever it takes to cut corners before our trip to ensure that we can stay at Hojo's, because for us, peace of mind, stability, cleanliness, comfort, and a home away from home is super important.

I can vouch that at $129 per kids suite room per night, plus tax, during the Entertainment Rate special, is it still an excellent value, and I will still happily take that discounted rate over the original rack rate available OR the DISboard 15% discount that they generously offer all of us here on the DISboards, [by requesting this discounted rate of 15% through 'in-house reservations', OR on-line reservations using code LNDB.]

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good deal. And this is still a solid deal.

You are lucky OP. I called yesterday and was going to book a kids suite for Feburary and they said the price was $129. I told them it showed $99 still on their page and they said that it was going to be changed and if I booked, I would be charged $129.

I have loved staying at HoJo's, but couldn't pass up $109 at Desert Inn for a 2 room suite with 4 queen beds and 2 bathrooms, plus continental breakfast (which I don't really care about, but still there if I decide to partake) and closer. So I guess I will get to compare a different hotel for once. I'm sad, but looking forward to the shorter walk.

I think the OP is a bit lucky to get the $99 rate because when it was shared on here that new dates opened on the 14th the $129 was present on the same link the OP listed.

Maybe Hojo is using the same pricing tactic DLH may of been using during construction. Less rooms available demand higher prices. Or perhaps Hojo is happy with occupancy displayed by the great lack of Ent rates for several months, and simply wanted to raise their rates. They may be trying to smooth over rate increases with a pile of Ent rates thrown at it's fans.

Hojo had posted a big advertisment about themselves that went over thier coming improvement. Not sure if was here or the Hojo forums or FB page or many even another fansite. The big improvement, and sad it's taking 30 years, is sound mitigation on the I-5 side rooms.

I hope the ent rates are a lot more common in 2012 than 2011 but that may be a bit to wishful.

This was the same suite we had booked and paid $99 for. On check-in, we actually got a comp upgrade to the 10 person suite (2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and living room with pull-out sofa). The room was clean and the beds, though not quite as cushy as Hojos', were still quite comfortable. Our room was right over the lobby and faced Harbor, but the traffic noise was much less than the freeway noise in the kids' suites at Hojo. The kids used and loved the pool, which is indoors, heated, and open until 11pm (constrasted to Hojo's Castaway Cove, which closes at sundown). Breakfast was nothing spectacular, but it's nice to have access to some juice and milk in the morning, and to be able to take some fruit to the parks for a midday snack. The fridge was twice as big as the tiny one at Hojo. OMG, the WALK! I don't consider Hojo to be far away, but it was so great at the end of the day to just be RIGHT THERE. The walk has me forever spoiled. I hope you have a good experience there too.

Thank you jory23 for speaking so highly of us! We try to make all of our guests stays as memorable as possible and do the best we can to get everyone reasonable rates. The “Retro Rate” for the Kids Suite has gone up from $99 to $129 per night, but I am excited to say that we are making a great addition to the Kids Suite. In addition to the Pirate themed room with a king bed, a bunk bed, and flat screen TVs, that many of our guests love, we are in the process of adding a new sliding door to the balcony. This helps to eliminate the highway noise that guests have had issues with in the past. All the Kid Suite rooms, except for the 7th floor, are scheduled to have these new doors by the beginning of December! I have been to one of our test rooms and it is VERY quiet!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the update! The kids suite is still an exceptional value. I'm very much looking forward to our stay there. We have always had a great experience with the hotel. :)

The price gap is actually a bit less than that because DS&I charges for parking. I know it is still less expensive and DS&I has the continental breakfast, but thought I would point it out.

Thanks, Kriss, for your prompt and kind reply, as well as for the updates. :) We really enjoy our stays at Hojo's, and know that so many others do as well. :goodvibes

I agree with Jory--HoJo is still a great deal at $129, IMHO. I can't wait to return!
