Is it legal to buy a 10-day NON-park hopping ticket and use up more than one admission per day if you wanted to switch parks? I was planning to buy the 5-day passes with the parkhopping option but just realized I could save a ton of money (there are 8 of us!) if I got the ticket without the park-hopping option and just used a new day each time I switched parks since we never go to more than 2 parks in a day. Will this work?

No it won't work. You cannot use two days to enter two park. If you want to hop, then get the hopping feature. You can reenter the same park without the hopping feature.

Disney realized this too and the non-hopping tickets are rejected at the turnstile if you attempt to use them at 2 parks on the same day. Sorry, it doesn't work.

If you are staying on site between certain dates...they are offering free upgrades on your tickets. Free park hopping and free water park & extras.
I think the dates are March 23rd - June 3. You can check at Mousesavers.com

Originally I had a 8 day park hopper pass for three of us...I wanted to add another day...it was only a little less that $2.00 a person to add the extra day. So I asked what it would be to add two extra days for a total of 10 days and it was $12.78 for the three tickets to become a 10 day instead of a 8 day. WOW...couldn't beat that. I guess their sloggin...'The more you play, the less you pay', is true! :woohoo:

Good Luck!

And THIS is one of the prime reasons the OP's "new ticket strategy" is not allowed.

Everyone could try just buying "extra days" for a couple a bucks more (without hopper option) and then try to use those "extra days" to hop...

NOPE, that's not what its for (or why Disney makes the added days' price so attractive).

If you wanna HOP (and I always do), you gotta spring for the HOPPER option.
(Or take advantage of a "special" deal to get the option.)

BTW, this "new ticket strategy" is not exactly "new".
Its one of the most FAQ on these boards.
Ever since these kind of tickets were announced.

It always LOOKS like "it just might work" but the safeguards are built into the tickets and the turnstiles.

Nope, as others have said once your ticket has passed through the turnstyle it can only be used at that park on that day unless you have a hopper.

It helps if you think of the pass in terms of number of days on the pass not number of visits.

Can you upgrade base tix for free if you have them already? Sorry to steal the thread, OP but I saw that mentioned! That would be awesome! :thumbsup2

I had already booked my trip and bought my tickets when I called about upgrading mine. I only had the park hopper option and was going to up grade to the water parks & extra. That is when they told me that they had a promotional deal where if you travel between March 23rd and June 3 you could upgrade your tickets for park hopper AND water parks & extra for free. So they upgraded them for me AND returned the $$ I had already paid for the park hopper option. So, if you already bought the ticket and are traveling those dates, you shouldn't have a problem upgrading them for free.
If you go into the web site- mousesavers.com they mention it there as well.

Hope this helps out!

Thanks for all the feedback! I thought it was too good to be true. Your input has saved me from making a costly mistake....and I haven't visited this forum in a long time so the idea was "new" to me :confused3
The problem I'm having is that we are a large group and it's hard to predetermine exactly what type of admission ticket we'll need for each person. We have a few golfers so that cuts down on park visitations and the need for park hoppers. I think it's so much more confusing now. In the past, we always just bought a bunch of multi-day passports and shared them among our own family members since they never enforced the nontransferable rule. Now with the biometrics I'll have to predict the exact usage for each person if I want to order them in advance. What a bummer.......any suggestions?

Actually because of the free upgrades, you don't have to worry about who needs what kind of a ticket. You just have to decide how many day ticket each person wants and get all the tickets with all the options on them. (except expiration...that isn't free) I am so glad they had this promotion cause it allowed me to have the water parks & extras for free and they returned $102.00 back to me for the park hopper part...so I increased our 8 day ticket to a 10 day ticket and that was only $12.78 for all three of us.

So, when they have deals...they have nice deals...guess you just have to be lucky and hit it at the right time. I heard that last year they were giving the dining plan out for free...now that I would have loved to fall into...but you can't win them all...at least this one came up! :woohoo:

Hope this helps out...

Unless you have a package I would start with the minimum you think you need for each person and then upgrade each ticket if needed. Some people may just do 1 park per day for a few days and others may want to hop. After arrival you can add the park hopper option and the extra days as needed as long as it is within 14 days of first use. This way you can "customize" each ticket for each person during the trip. It may be a bit more pricey but not more pricy than buying options or days you don't need.

Good luck -

Our upcoming trip is next week, so I got a little excited when I read this! :Pinkbounc Then I went on the Mousesavers website, and saw that the date starts April 23 (not March 23). :(

I am soooooo sorry I got the dates wrong...I wasn't exactly sure...that is why I gave you the web site. :confused3 :guilty:  :confused3

Unfortunately our trip is in August so we're out of the promotion dates. Plus, we'll be using DVC points so I don't know if that would qualify either.

Doesn't the free hopping and water park fun only apply to tickets (any kind) ordered with a resort package?

Just an FYI about the free ticket upgrades - it's also not available if you are already getting some type of discount on your room, AAA discount in our case.

if renting points...no I do not think so but I do think August (esp the end) is going to have some kind of deal...free dining last year...it is value season...it is hot...schools are back in session..and it is hurricane season...I am keeping my options open to see what they come up with!
