New poolside bar at HHI

At HHI now, and maintenance was installing a new bar by the Big Dipper pool. It opens 7/19 and will be a pilot. If the approximately 2 week testing goes well, they will install a permanent one between the hot tub and the ping pong table/Recreation area.

Wanted to pass this along!

Ooooh! This is awesome! I like an adult beverage while lounging by the pool and I had to choose between taking the kids to the pool with the slide (no drinks for mom) or the beach house pool without a slide (but drinks for mom!). This will make that decision much easier. Hopefully, it will work out and be up and running by the time we go back...in 2017!

Aha, that explains it! We were there from July 4 - 10 and one day while we were at the Big Dipper pool we say Colleen the recreation manager and one of the resort managers looking around at the two areas on either side of the walkway in that area. They were taking measurements of the two areas and making notes so I figured they were looking to put something there. I also noticed when we were at the beach house there was a manager there taking photos of the bar there, when the CM working the bar asked him why he said they were "thinking of making some changes" in that area and they were taking photos of what the current set up is.

I think this is a great idea. We wondered why there wasn't a poolside bar or at least a bar on premise.

For anyone there now, is this only going to be open in the summer (assuming the test goes well). Or will it be open all year round? We're Thanksgiving visitors, and some years have been nice enough for a pool visit. An adult beverage would be nice.

We were just a HHI at our 'other' timeshare. DH loved it so much that he wants to make this part of the rotation.
I wisely said, "well honey, if you look at our DVC points balance, we can make it happen!" This will help seal the deal!

NICE! Didn't use it there, but I believe there was a bar at the pool by the beach as well!

It will be an awesome addition. I loved HHI and was there with Girl Scouts, so the grown ups didn't do much drinking - but the lack of an on property bar - and one by the pool - would be really noticeable during any other trip. Its hard to imagine that you wouldn't be able to run a bar profitably in a vacation spot - the markup on drinks is plenty high enough to take care of overhead.
