I was told that HHI is testing a new pool towel policy (but maybe it has been around for a while??) We were given 8 pool towels in our 2 bedroom and we can exchange them for clean ones as needed. No towels are available at the resort pool. I forgot to check on whether this same system applies at the beach house. Although slightly more inconvenient, it certainly saves money and natural resources on laundry and there also seems to be less of a problem with towels sitting all day on empty chairs at the pool.

I would be interested in whether or not you received towels at the beach pool. We always ride our bikes over, and it would be a "pain" to have to carry our towels on our bike along with our pool bag:upsidedow especially coming back, if the towels were wet :scared:. Thanks for all of your updates.:)

They had them last June when we were there. I hope VB has gone to this new system. I think this is a good thing.

I like the new towels, they are bigger and thicker. As you said, I am sure they are saving on laundering costs and energy, and people are a lot less likely to leave them as chair reserving tools.

I imagine also that many of those pool issued towels dissapeared on a regular basis. I've seen people just leave them on the beach, I've seen them actually throw them in the trash. And I imagine many of them got/get packed up and taken home.

So I hope being issued a specific number helps people be more responsible. And as you said, they will swap them for clean ones if you don't want to wash them with your own laundry.:thumbsup2

That is a good point... Could even be a hazard if kids try to wear them while riding. I'm interested in knowing this too.

I don't know what the Beach House policy is at this time - but I know that they lost a TON of towels from that facility in the past when guests would take towels to the beach and leave them there. The resort has been doing the towel exchange (for pool towels) for awhile now.

We'll be down there in a few weeks and will check out how the Beach House is dealing with this. I'm sure someone else can already report the status of Beach House towels though.

I think this is a great idea. Many Marriott timeshares do this. As of about 10 days ago, VB did NOT do this.

Some advantages:
Less wear and tear on towels
Less laundry
Less leaving towels on chairs when people leave, as they take them with them
Less disappearing towels
Pool crashers more easily identified since they don't have access to resort towels.
Better quality towels can be used

I called the front desk regarding towels at the beach. I was told that we should bring our tools along. I was offered a bag to carry towels on our bikes. I asked what we would do if we forgot towels when we went to the beach house. I was told to go to Signals and they would allow me to check out towels to my room. I asked how they would be credited back to my room and I was told not to worry about it. I will try to actually do this later in the week if possible. By the way, I am in favor of this overall, but I do think the beach biking/towel deal is pretty far fetched.

We put a towel in the basket they give you for the bike. Everything else went with the kids in the pull behind "buggy":thumbsup2 Thats what my kids called it:) I felt like I was pulling another 100lbs!!

They had the towel policy you speak of when we were there last summer. We liked the bigger towels. Last summer we always drove to the beach house so toting them was not a problem. We always have so much stuff we bring to the beach we could never just bike over!!! Biking with the towels certainly could be a safety issue. I'd want them in a backpack so they'd be completely out of the way.

And all those advantages probably translate into less dues or dues rising more slowly. I'm sue HHI owners are all in favor of that!
