New Poll, Next DVC at AK or Contemporary?

I can't imagine that a DVC at the AKL would be a problem due to the animals not liking the noise. After all, they are building Everest right in their backyard! I am sure they could figure out a way to mitigate the noise.

I voted Contemporary due to the Monorail alone, I think there are better restaurants elsewhere on property (with the exception of the California Grill). I think that the point schedule for a Contemporary DVC would be higher than BCV/VWL so that people are getting less for their money, in order to balance the enormous demand for the location. If an OKW studio in the off-season is 8 points, and a BCV studio is 12 points, I can easily see a Contemporary studio being 15-18 points per night. When you think of the cash equivalency, $80 for an OKW studio is a steal, but $180 for a Contemporary studio is not as great of a bargain compared to a regular room. (OKW rack rate is ~$270 vs Contemporary rack rate ~$250 in September, I know I'm not comparing apples to apples, but you see the idea.)

I didn't vote for either because I don't care if they build at either of those resorts or not.

You didn't put Eagle Pines in as one of the choices. I still like that one best. The original artist's renderings they did make it look like it'd be a very nice resort, and I much prefer separate DVC resorts like OKW and SSR rather than resorts attached to existing hotel complexes like BWV, BCV, VWL are.

I too voted Contemporary. I would love to have a resort on the monorail, it would make me pull out my check book again!!

I also voted Contemporary (but IF my husband was registered-he would have voted AKL).
As much as I love AKL, I cannot imagine spending 6 days there. We stayed at AKL for three days once and that was quite enough. I really like the water and staying at the Magic Kingdom resort area. I know that AKL is not that far away from everything, but in my mind it is too remote.

All that being said, we would not buy any more points at either, but we would certainly book there if it became a DVC resort.

We have another 49 years to go and I was hoping there would be a DVC at Contemporary and Animal Kingdom Lodge not to mention Paris, California etc !!!

Oh yes, Muushka mentioned the water! I love the 7 Seas Lagoon area, another reason why I voted for CR DVC, even though I do not like CR!! Has anyone ever been there to see their Christmas decoration, or lack of them? For sure, the balconies could use some DVC lights and spirit!

Voted for AKL because we LOVE staying there. Can't imagine ever staying at the Contemporary - certainly not buying there.

Location, location, location.....Contemporary. But I have to say, since this was where I stayed on my first trip to WDW, its rather nostalgic for me. It wouldn't normally be my choice of theme....but who knows what DVC could come up with? Look at what they did with SSR while keeping some of the existing buildings.

My main arguement against AKL would be that when I stay there I want a savannah view...and from what I've heard it would not be possible to have a savannah view DVC. So I'd really just rather stay at the hotel.

Give me it at AKL . Theming is essential with DVC. I could book CR anyday if i wanted.

I voted CR because I'd love the ease of walking to MK and getting to the other resorts to eat via the monorail. However if they built both I would buy both--CR for the above reasons, but AKL becasue we just loved it there and would enjoy having an 11 month window to book.
