Are you sure? First V&A and already I see someone asking for another restaurant. What's next?

What's next for what? You keep saying that children should be allowed anywhere on Earth and that's simply NOT the case.

ONE resteraunt goes child free and its the end of civilization! Shock horror we all now hate children because we have one where the darlings can't go, this policy doesn't stink its wonderful and one more resteraunt would go down nicely. Or are these people going to start whinging about the rides that don't let children under a certain height on them? How about stripper bars, the evil places don't let children in!

I don't know about you..but I used to go to stripper clubs when I was a two year old!

What would Walt think about this? I just see more and more child hating posts here. Why do these people even bother to go to any Disney Park at all???? There build fore children.

What would Walt think about the state of the company that bears his name? It doesn't matter to the discussion. I guess Disney should just close it's doors because an adult would like to have a nice dinner without being subjected to young children. Parrish the thought!

Quite frankly who cares Walt is dead, the park is built for all families not just for children and who says they hate children? Just asking for 1 or 2 resteraunts is not hating children. Its saying that being in an adult only enviroment is nice occasionally. Mind you if the parents who think its cute when their children run around and try and take food from my table stopped that behaviour it would be nice, but that is child hating according to some.

I think it is a fantastic idea. I have never been there but it just sounds like a place I would certainly not bring my children and frankly I don't think they would want to be there anyway. I have no problem with them making one (or even a few more) restaurants for grown ups only. I think it is a nice idea.

Walt established Club 33 in Disneyland, and exclusive restaurant which actually excludes regular guests. Besides, as others have mentioned, Walt is dead. He didn't have a chance to live long enough to learn what is necessary to best serve today's guests.

Have the people who are outraged by this policy also been complaining and protesting the Disney Cruise Line which has "adult only" restaurants and beach and pool areas?

Having one restaurant out of nearly 100 where people can go for the evening does not change the character of WDW overall or bring out about the demise of civilization. It does provide something that many WDW guests have requested.

We have been on several Disney cruises. There are always a few trying to get around the adult only rules for Palo and Serenity the adult beach. I would have to say that they are the same type of people outraged about this new policy for V&A's.

Disney is now being marketed as a destination for theme weddings, honeymooners, conventioneers, adults of ALL ages as well as a family destination. It makes alot of sense if you are going to market to adults that you should have a couple of restaurants or things that are adult only. If that makes me a child hating person to some then so be it.

This was in the local newspaper today, The Tallahassee Democrat, Sunday, January 6, and the headline said ...

Children under 10 banned from faciest restaurant in Magic Kingdom

I was amazed, thinking about which table service spot in the Magic Kingdom would be banning children from the restaurant. I supposed it must be Tony's, since it's the most noteable eatery in the park.



Then, when I read the item, I found that the restaurant wasn't in the Magic Kingdom at all, but rather at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Good grief!

PS: I think the move to keep very young children from running all over the place at Victoria & Alberts is way overdue.

PSS: This same newspaper item (with an AP credit), also stated that "Disney World has 97 other full-service restaurants." Wow! I didn't realize that. In recent years I had been making some effort to eat at all of the full-service restaurants in WDW; but if there are really that many, I think I'll give up the effort. I'd sure love to see a list of the 97, along with the location of each, at Walt Disney World.

I would never have dreamed of taking my children there anyway...but it sounds like a good policy. But, as someone had mentioned before, I would hate to see this as a trend of making signature restaraunts off limits to children. Otherwise, on our family vacation, my husband and I would have trouble finding a place to eat that we enjoy as well as be able to take our children. I would hate to feel that the most magical place on earth is punishing us for bringing our children along. But, V &A's: who would want to waste all of that money on a 5 year old that could care less about the food? Seeing as Disney World is one of the top destinations for family, I can't see it being financially responsible of them to start excluding children from too many things on site...even the signature restaraunts. I am sure that they would lose money as the majority (I believe) of visitors are there with children. (I could be wrong; I have no statistics on that. Just my own generalization). And we all know that Disney doesn't do many things based on how customers feel, but more on the dollar amount customers spend. JMHO.

I think it's a great policy. I would think that other restaurants of it's caliber (not at Disney) probably have the same policies. As a kid, even though my parents didn't feed me a bunch of "kid food" junk, I really don't think I would have liked anything at V&A's. Did V&A's even have a children's menu?

I don't think this is a policy that Disney will create at any more restaurants, especially since it's probably the most kid-friendly place in the world.

I have a 3 yr old who is extremely well behaved in restaurants. We go out to eat all the time. But let's face it, we choose restaurants that are suited for families. V&A is not suited for families, just look at the prices. I would think the price alone would keep kids under 10 away. But obviously, that didn't work for Disney. So they are now flat our refusing to allow young kids, I don't see a problem with this.

Most people think "their kids" should be the exception. I can guarantee that my "extremely well behaved" kid would not last for 3 hours in Chucky Cheese, let alone V&A.

I don't think that I have the right to impose my child on other diners who are paying hundreds of dollars on a meal. Plain & simple. But having said that, I wouldn't impose my DH on other diners either, especially if he knew it was going to cost us hundreds of dollars. Not that would be a scene.

I really don't see a problem with keeping kids out of V&A. I think 10 might even be a little too young for a lot of kids. JMHO.

That has to be the silliest thing I have ever heard. The fact remains that there are places that children should not be present. Kids should be kids. More and more often I see these parents treating their children like adults. Letting them sit in on adult conversations, having them present in adult situations. Believe it or not, they are still children and more than likely do not process things the way that adults do. Why make them grow up so fast? Let them be kids.

For the record, I have three well-behaved little boys. And I don't let them routinely listen in to adult conversation, or be present were there is excessive drinking.

I have two daughters, one almost 15 and one 9. My oldest one wants to go to V&A for her birthday this year. We're planning that already and guess what? My DD9 wasn't going with us. Oh, the horror. That was before the new rule. I guess I hate my DD9 for knowing she wouldn't enjoy the atmosphere or food or the time it takes to eat there. My DH and I have eaten there numerous times without our kids. I guess that means we hate them both? No, just means they were kids and wouldn't enjoy it and we enjoyed the time without them sometimes for a great dinner like that.

I am very happy about this policy- I have always LOVED Palo! I like this policy not only because I will be able to enjoy a child-free meal on my honeymoon, but because it sets limits for children.

I am a teacher and devoted aunt and LOVE children and I know how damaging it can be when a child is raised WITHOUT limits. Many children think it is okay to say what adults say, wear what adults wear, watch what adults watch and go where adults go when they are simply not ready! We wouldn't hand a ten year old car keys or allow him/her to watch a rated R movie. A good parent sets limits and guides their child gradually so that with each year, there are new challenges and each one can be addressed with a parent's guidance. To hand the whole world to a child at such a young age is overwhelming.

Society wants to allow parents the freedom to choose what is appropriate for their own children as much as possible, but sometimes rules, policies, laws and regulations need to be in place so everyone will be considered. I think this is a great policy and will tell Disney I think so.
