ALL EARS™ ticket guru, JackM, reports: Effective immediately, Wilderness Lodge will no longer accept faxed in room requests. All room requests must be added to your reservation by the Disney Reservation Center (WDTC and/or CRO) at least 10 days prior to your arrival at WL. Faxes may be sent to DRC at 407-939-3463 or they may be called in to 407-WDISNEY.

The official Disney policy on room preferences has always been that they need to be added directly to the reservation by DRC and contact with the resort was discouraged. In the past, that policy has not been strictly adhered to as the volume of the faxes received by the resort has been manageable. WL made this decision based on several factors, which included the increase in the number of faxes received and the adverse reaction upon resort arrival of many people who could not have their room requests granted. Currently, each resort is free to adopt this policy or not as they see fit. Do not be surprised if other Disney resorts soon join WL and the DVC resorts in not accepting faxed room requests.

I have to agree with this policy. If you made your request and it is on your reservation, the last thing they need is 10,000 people faxing REMINDERS 4 days before their trip!!!!!!!

Yeah, but the difficult thing is making sure the reservation person takes your request seriously AND puts it on the reservation.

It took 2 calls to get the request for non-smoking and the guarantee for adjoining rooms (for a family). I still have not gotten them to put our request for a King on the ressie. I guess I'll be calling again.

Wow, I've never had problems getting our requests noted. I totally agree you should call until they get it right but I frequently see in books/chats/on the Dis that people routinely fax in their requests again 4 days before the trip directly to the hotel (appearantly there is some strategy to the 4 day thing?). If it's on your confirmation then there is nothing more that can be done..they don't need more paperwork when there is already cutbacks with excessive faxing of duplicates.

Sorry it's taken you now 3 calls. The OP listed a fax# that is still available if you wanted to try that route too. But maybe with your trip so soon a 'real' person would be better.

Having them noted on your reservation should be enough. They are in the computer system, even though they don't all show up on the yellow confirmation sheet. I think all those faxes were just overkill and a waste of paper. :D

I am glad to see that they are doing this also. I can see asking for certain requests but from some posts I think it is getting out of hand.

I am sure that Disney will do its best to satisfy requests and that guests need to relax and be happy once they get to the resort.

I've also had good experiences with just calling CRO/WDTC to note room requests. When the reservation is downloaded into the resort computer 4 days or so ahead of arrival, they see all of the information right there in your file.

I've heard that there is such a large number of faxes nowadays that it is overwhelming for the front desk at every Disney resort.

All I can say is "it's about time". Those people have enough to do without getting hundreds of faxes with requests. I am sure they did away with it because of the nasty comments from incoming guests when they didn't get their every whim desired. I have seen it and it's not pretty.:(

Can't say as I'm surprised as the practice became more and more common and a lot of people weren't able to manage their expectations. The 4 day window was due to the fact that the room assigners don't get your reservation to slot until 3/4 days before your arrival. Faxes that arrive too early get put in a pending folder and you had to hope that your request didn't get lost in the shuffle and someone was on the ball enough to routinely go through the pending folder and pull out requests that were now in the window..

I understand why they are doing this, but I am disappointed. We are arriving and are/were planning on faxing our requests to the GF directly. I have never had good luck with getting all of our requests on our reservations thru CRO and I don't think I've asked for anything unreasonable or too specific. But the CRO CMs have never managed to get everything down--just non-smoking is all they get on the reservation. I don't have time to spend an hour on the phone several times to get this straight (I've spent 45 min to an hour each time I've called lately, mostly on hold). I guess I'll try faxing to DRC.

I've made requests with the reservation CM and did not get the request. I've also sent in a fax request and did not get request on a seperate occassion. I can understand a family that absolutely needs an ajoining room. I would like Disney to try to accommodate these types of requests more effectively (assuming the rooms are available).

I have faxed -- and I have not faxed -- prior to a stay. And I can't say it probably mattered. I have been very lucky to get the rooms I did. All our locations were just as we requested, almost what we asked for, or exceeded our expectations.
I am not surprised, as I can only imagine how many faxes they receive.
The only thing I would not like is I have made reservations, then changed them later when a discount was available. And when you do that you have to go through whatever requests you had all over again. And sometimes I know they were not noted the second time around.
