New Policy - Concierge Lounges

IThere are a lot of places to refill (Rancho, Mint Julip, First Aid to name a few), plus you can get a free cup of water at any restaurant.

One thing Disney could do to encourage refills in the parks is to make the spigots taller. A plastic sport top bottle doesn't fit under the ones at Mint Julep/Rancho/TLT. They sell reusable bottles in the parks and plastic tumblers that don't fit. As it is now I usually don't bother to bring a bottle and just drink free ice water, and throw away the cup. I sometimes end up drinking 2-3 per day. If it were easier to refill a bottle I'd reconsider. Same in a hotel. I usually buy a small bottle to carry and a couple of liters for the room for refills. If there was a filtered spout that was easily accessible I'd consider bringing a refillable bottle.

Dasani is my fav water bottled water. Not to sure why so many have bad things to say. Sadly i'm not a hotel guest so couldn't take advantage of it but kinda think its a dum dum idea of why they stopped letting ppl have so much water. It is hot of course ppl need water and they will get it or other drinks from cheaper stores if they have to. Not gona save any recycling.

Ill at least explain the recycling deal. Companies get charged extra for recycling services. Companies want to support recycling, but only to a servicable extent. Contracts are setup to deliver x amount of recyclables for y cost.

There are plenty of places that setup recycling bins, but do not want to pay extra. So their recyclables get thrown away with regular trash. Only the appearance of being environmentally friendly. Truth.

SO TRUTH! My university built a sustainable, environmental award winning building when I was there and we had to sort out trash into like 3 different trash cans. We were in college so of course we wanted to do our part to save the planet... Until another student saw that they just combined it all into general trash out back.

Is anyone aware of California's laws? Is it possible Disney is liable for what they can control so bottles that are given for free but are not held responsible for the actions of what is sold? That would make sense for their recycling excuse. If they are required to recycle anything they control then maybe enough people aren't recycling the bottles they are given so Disney was getting a fine. IDK how California law works. I know in NYC a business is required to separate all recyclables and faces a fine if they don't.

Just drink tap water. I find it so ridiculous that people are such water snobs in this country. Anaheim tap water is fine. It is a miracle of science and engineering that we can press a button or turn a knob and have CLEAN, treated water come out, whenever we want and wherever we are. Be grateful. If you stay Concierge because you get a few bottles of tap water "for free", you are really teetering on the edge of insanity.

Actually Anaheim tap water is disgusting and no one should drink it. We learned this the hard way one of our earlier trips. Were not water snobs at all we drink tap water at home if we must but the water in Anaheim is just gross tasting

I drink it all the time. It's fine. Just put some ice in it and it's even better. I live very near Anaheim and our city's tap water is also fine (and completely tasteless). I drink tap water at home. I drink tap water at Disneyland, every week. I have suffered no ill effects.

I'm a water snob. I'm a food snob too. It's going in my body so I'm picky when it comes to that.

Edit: I get water bottles delivered from the grocery store to our room..I didn't know they gave them for free.

I hadn't heard about refill places. How are they different from regular drinking fountains? Is it filtered? Yes, I'm one of those that think tap water tastes gross. We still use the drinking fountains to fill our bottles but bring lemonade packets to cover the taste. (I won't pay $3-4 for water unless desperate.)

It is filtered. There is also one at Tomorrowland Terrace. There are quite a few. I'll try adn rememeber to make a list for DCA next trip.

Stayed concierge in July ~ there were no longer water bottles that you could help yourself to, but the lounge attendants were happy to get you as many as you liked. They were the perfect size to carry around without weighing your backpack down.

I don't like buying the water in the park, the price is ridiculous and they are huge & heavy. I know I can get water from any counter service, but it was nice having a small bottle in my bag while waiting in line

Can I bring my own from home? Sure. But it was a nice perk while it lasted

They haven't had them in the fridge since 2012 at least. But you could always get a bunch to go.

I agree that the tap water tastes different in Anaheim. If you live in or near Anaheim, of course it's not going to taste different to you - you're used to drinking it. The same thing with Missouri water, it taste so gross but people who live there think nothing of it.

Yes! Same with our state. I live south and my sister lives up north in my state and our tap waters are very different.

I don't think it is a cost savings, as realistically, the cost of those bottles is minimal. Yes, I will probably pick up a case of water on our way down, as I can get a flat for about $3. I am sure Disney's cost is a lot lower than that...

Disney might just want to increase sales of water inside the parks. If this change causes each concierge guest to buy an additional bottle of water (or any other beverage), it will increase annual park profits by several hundred thousand dollars.

The bottles in the lounge are too small, so I bring a case of water from costco. I hope Disney does not ban outside water from the parks. The San Jose Sharks banned all liquids from entering the arena, claiming the change was to "increase security" required by the NHL -- this change increases my season cost by several hundred dollars (and I need to wait in more lines).

The water in California has an extremely different taste than our home water.

When our family from SoCal come to the PNW, they comment on our water taste.
In addition to water taste, they also have a problem with cleaner air.

It just depends on what you are accustom to.

It was a nice gesture while it lasted.
