I'm wanting to buy a new camera. There are so many to choose from and I want to make a good decision. So I need your help. I'm looking at a Nikon S8000, does anyone know anything about this camera or any good suggestions on a good point and shoot camera. This will be my DS's senior year in high school and I will have lots of pictures to take, so I'm justifing that as a reason for a new camera. ;) TIA

DH bought me the Panasonic Lumix DS3...compact, sweet macro zoom, HD movie mode..took great shots on the ssafari ride at AK...( I used the sport mode) There is a new model the s7 out now...my main criteria is a killer zoom and rechargable battery..I do not care to lug around spare batteries, use rechargable AA's etc....Panasonic is one of the few of not only that has the rechargable battery pack. The DMC F35 is a camera I am coveting, but not in the budget at $315..it is bulkier than my compact, but if I had the $$$, I woudl pick that up in a heartbeat...18x zoom!:thumbsup2

I just got the Nikon S8000 for my birthday (I picked it out and my DH ordered it from Amazon:rotfl2:) and I absolutely love it. I've had two Olympus cameras before that and I liked them but this one seems to have less hesitation in between shots which I love. To charge the battery you have to plug in the whole camera so I ordered a separate battery charger to use because I always like to have a spare charged battery and didn't want to have to have the camera charging.

I got a new camera a few months ago, it was a hard decision! I picked the kodak easyshare and I love it. It's so easy to use and i'm happy with the pictures. I've taken outdoors, indoors, and dark and they all turn out great!

I am thinking of getting my dd16 the Panasonic Lumix. How does it do on indoor shots? She takes pictures for her school newspaper and quite a few are indoors.

give you an idea on the zoom..we were across Wabash Ave and across the river, on a outdoor patios to Houlihans restaurant...and zoomed in on all the actors, had no idea it was Josh Duhamel until reviewing the pics, THEN took more of him, lol...just ordered the limix FZ35 for DD...18x zoom, has an exterior flash so again, indoors may be weak, but we love lumix. I think the competition for it would be the canon. I like this site,
cameralabs.com for good info, sample images...shows comparisons and setting usage that help me out a lot.
