New Plan Allows Whole Pizza for Two Adult TS Credits!

Interesting option if you need to burn credits. But if you can only use adult TS credits for it, it doesn't make much sense for those who would be most likely to want to use it (families with kids who don't want a big TS meal every night). What are you going to do with all the leftover kids' TS credits? If they go to waste, that pizza is getting even more expensive.

It would make much more sense to let people use the kids' TS credits for the pizza. That way, the kids could have pizza at the pool for dinner, then go to a kids' club or babysitting service or stay with grandparents while mom and dad have a nice dinner out. (Yeah, I know most of the kids clubs have dinner, but only during certain hours, and babysitting services/grandparents don't provide dinner.) JMHO.

Both Disney and the OP have this right:

OP - for the price of 2 she can feed 4, in a very low key fashion

Disney - providing a full meal for 2 for $40

Since all snack credits are created equal, Disney is only charging $6-7/day to feed a child a TS and CS meal on the DDP. You really cannot expect to trade a child credit for anything.

Not everyone will want to use TS credits in this way, but it'll be a great option when you just want to eat "at home" or want a lighter meal.

My suggestion for an unused kids TS credits, take them to Beaches and Cream. Pay OOP for anything you order (most are under $10). You could also just pay OOP at a buffet too.

You could pay OOP for the adults at B&C or at a buffet to use up the kids' TS credits, but I can't think of any meal (even B&C) where a full adult meal, including beverage and dessert, would be less expensive than paying OOP for that pizza. But if you already bought the pizza, and were just trying to use up credits, I guess it would be better than nothing, especially if you were willing to skip the dessert and/or beverage.

At B&C I would probably order a sandwich which come with fries add a drink and it'll be aroung $10. With two kids getting dessert I'd munch off their plates. I wouldn't be at B&C trying to get a "TS" meal, rather use up the kid's credits, a slightly different goal. Heck I might just order onion rings if I know the kids won't eat their meals.

I think the real draw of the TS pizza option is simplicity and convenience. It really is a TS meal you can do at the last minute and it won't take too long, no ADR needed. So if you've been lounging by the pool and don't really want to move, make the call. Or junior is getting on your last nerve and if you have to take him for a TS dinner :scared1: make the call. Not the Surf 'n Turf meal you can get at Narcoossee's, but dinner for the family on your terms.

I don't know. I think it sounds like a plan. Lazin' by the pool and getting a pizza delivered. No muss. No fuss. Everyone is happy. :thumbsup2 Sometimes it is not about the $. It is the convenience and what simple things can make one happy.

my kids are TEN and TWELVE... disney adults! we have no "kids" credits... my kids would LOVE to have dinner delivered poolside and we can easily feed the four of us on one pizza (plus drinks and desserts)... so while it may not be the best bang for one's buck, for our family it could work well 'cause the kids often use their ADULT credits to order KIDS meals (which is an even worse bang for one's buck) or we pay OOP for the kids' meals...

again, what works for one may not work for another...

I agree. We may actually do this some trip. I don't try to maximize my credits because for me that takes the fun out of it.

I am not 100% sure, but, I think that your dining credits expire on midnight on the last day that you have purchased the dining plan, so I don't think that you can carry the credits over to your non-dining plan days.

Teresa, you are right. Sorry kind of conf. the way I worded it, I was talking about saving some pizza for thier breakfast for the last four days were not on the DDP, But if it has to be Adult TS, We might as well get counter service kids meals at toy story pizz planet to go and take them back and put them in the fridge for breakfast. I stand corrected. The only people more likely to want to skip a TS meal than families with little kids are families with 'tweens and teenagers. :rotfl:

Seriously, I didn't mean to sound so negative about this option. Whatever works for your family is best for you. And there is a definite value in convenience. I guess I was just playing devil's advocate a bit.

But I stand by my assertion that, strictly financially speaking, this pizza delivery option is not a great use of TS credits. Then again, neither are breakfast buffets, room service, my vegetarian meals or, as you pointed out, using "adult" credits to buy kids' menu meals for 'tweens (something I'm sure I'll become well acquainted with next month, as my oldest recently turned 10).

Of course, if your 2 TS pizza feeds 4, then it's about the same $ value per credit as other TS restaurants, assuming you're willing to eat pizza twice instead of Le Cellier once.

Pizza, 2 salads, 2 beverages and 2 desserts + tax, gratuity and delivery charge: $50 (or 2 TS credits)
Crab cakes, twin lobster tails, fruit smoothies and key lime pie at Cap'n Jack's for 2: $109 (or 2 TS credits)
Eating the pizza by the pool instead of the lobster to make the kids happy: priceless!

We don't try to maximize our credits either, but I don't like to throw money away. No one is saying pizza delivered to the room or by the pool is a bad idea - it is a great idea. BUT... I would pay OOP for the pizza, have a relaxing family evening, get a good night's sleep, and go to breakfast with those TS in the morning. However, I really shouldn't comment because I'm not planning on purchasing the DDP in the future with the new changes.

exactly :rotfl:

For your family it may be a good deal but in terms of $ value it isnt really. However, it is all about what suits your needs.:)

If it suits the family then it is well worth doing.

BTW it is 2 TS per person and the meal for two would be 4 TS credits.

Exactly!

Who gets the better "value" of being on the dining plan? Person A who orders the most expensive thing (which he may not have thought was the most delicious-sounding dish) on the menu simply because he wants to get his money's worth on the dining plan? Or Person B who orders the dish he truly wants to eat even though it's the cheapest entree on the menu?

Our last 2 trips have been during free dining.

The first trip I spent the first 5 days of my vacation trying to "maximize" my free dining credits. The last 3 days I said, "Forget it!" and we ate where we wanted to eat.

The second trip we ate what we wanted when we wanted to the entire trip. I did make ADR's, but we cancelled just as many as we attended. We had FUN, and oddly enough, my receipts were only $100 shy of the previous year's total.

I guess I can see making sure you get the most bang for your buck if you purchase the plan. Maybe. I'd be happy just breaking even at the end and having a great trip. If pizza by the pool makes everyone happy, then I say it's the most bang for your buck.

I thought the OP said it was 2 adult TS credits, period, not per person? And she had 2 young "adult" kids, so their whole family of 4 was able to have dinner off those 2 credits, which makes it a decent value, if you don't mind pizza instead of steak.

Now if you had 2 older "adult" kids (I'm thinking 17 year old high school linebackers), it might take 6 adult TS credits to feed the family, so not as good a deal.

The 2 TS per person you're thinking of might be room service at deluxe resorts?

This could also help those who visit during a peak time without ADRs to utilize their credits. Just a thought.

:cool1: Getting pizza, etc. at the resort for two TS credits will be a great option for my DH. I am expecting that there will be at least one night where he will want to just relax at the resort while I am out with my DIS friends at meet activities!

I had been worrying about how he was going to use up all of his TS credits, especially since he has a trip to the Space Center planned for one of the days :goodvibes

I thought the deal at POFQ for the 1 pizza, soda, and salads was 2 CS NOT TS. COuld anyone confirm this? If this is the case this is a good deal -- if TS no way.
