POTC is simply GREAT. I can not relate to this thread at all.

I don't think Disney should compromise their classic attractions to appeal to the mood of the day. A classic becomes a classic for a reason. Change it and it is no longer a classic. It's right up there with colorizing black and white movies or adding new computer-generated effects to the original Star Wars film.

What defines classic? Is it any ride that Walt had a hand in the design in, any ride that was there when the park originally opened, or just anything we like enough to decide to call it a classic? I'm not arguing Pirate's stance as a classic, I consider it one too, but I'm just curious where the line would be drawn. If we claimed that any ride the park opened with or that Walt himself helped design was a classic nothing would ever be updated and I think even die-hard fans would get bored after a few decades.

I can totally understand the desire to leave classics alone. Even though I was really young the last time I rode Mr. Toad's Wild Ride I remember how much I loved it and I'm still upset they replaced it with Winnie the Pooh. And some people love the new ride. And most casual visitors might not even know it replaced Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. It was a classic to me, but maybe it wasn't to most visitors. So I can see the need to keep things fresh even if I don't always like it. It's one thing to dislike the changes made to a particular classic ride, but I don't think it's fair to say that Disney should never change any of the classics, since "classic" might be different for everyone.

I hope this was somewhat comprehensible and didn't sound rude; it's late and my brain is fried from finals.
