New pirate makeover experience!

I wonder how long this will take for make-over and "experience". I was thinking of doing this on our MNSSHP night at around 4:30 (since we can get in at 4 with our hard ticket) But I don't want to eat up too much time. Anybody have any thoughts?

Disney's site says 30-60 minutes.

There is a soft opening scheduled, but I believe it is only for friends and family of CMs... you may see the area open for that reason.

I was told today that it would be about 1 hour for "everything"...

meaning the naming, decorating & exploring.

Yippee! Was finally able to book. The CM called the "Empress" Package the "Pirate Queen" Package, which actually sounds a lot better to me. Same stuff, just different name. I have my daughter an Elizabeth Swan outfit, so I think we're ready to go. We'll be going to Chef Mickey's afterward for dinner and then doing the Pirate and Pals cruise from the Contemporary Marina. I ordered a pirate chest mini-cake for Chef Mickey's. CM said it was only $9.95? Does that sound right? I figured no way I was getting that for less than $20. *shrug*

Yep thats the price, plus tax.

Now I can't give away all the secrets!! But yes... unlike the BBB... you not only get a makeover but you also go through additional "experiences" one which does include a map.

Will they have photopass there too like at BBB?

Yep, with a couple changes. The pictures will not be as posed... they will be taken during the experience, which is why all packages include a picture. Also, you will get the picture right away, instead of having to return. I'm not familiar with BBB, but it sounds like that may have been a complaint, so they listened and made sure the picture would be instant!

Yep - they sure can! I think the concern about adults wearing costume is that children may mistake them for actual Disney characters, which would be bad since Disney cannot control their behavior. However, even with the Sparrow package, it would still be pretty clear that they are not Jack Sparrow or another character. I haven't seen the Hook look yet, but I assume the same would be true there.

When they created the sample video (using adults) they were running all over the area in costume and therefore I assume it's expected.

The photpass guy does candid shots of them getting the makeover. They aren't posed at all. you can then have the option to go geta photoshoot at a different location (Exposition hall at MK). Those are posed, and I beleive those pictures are instant as well.

So at The Pirate leuge are they going to take "candid" pictures of the makeover there? Is the picture you get one of the candid ones or is it a posed one?

Really? 'Cause I've been told (by Pirates League managers) that won't be the case at all. Photopass pictures will be taken after, not during, the Pirate Transformation, unlike at the BBB. These photos will be taken using special high-end high-speed digital cameras that don't require a flash.

However, you're right in that the photos will be printed on the spot and given to the guest.

Now, it's possible they may change this in response to Guest Feedback... but I'm told that the lighting in the PL will be pretty dim, and they didn't want flashes going off constantly.

Even the official Disney website http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/tours-and-experiences/pirates-league/ says to call now to book. You'd think they'd wait to put it on their website AFTER they were ready to book. The CM I talked to at the 407-WDW-CREW number was frustrated by that, too.

my kids would love that. It would have been something for my son and daughter to do. DD loves BBB but never could find something for him. He did do the pirate cruise last time. That was alot of fun for him.

I'm not entirely sure, but my assumption is yes. The Captain's package gives you three photos... so I assume they take a bunch and you can choose which one you want for your free image and then can view the rest on photopass.com.

I start on May 31st... I'll post back if I'm wrong.

ADULT: Puffy Pirate Shirt & Captain Jack Hat with Dreadlocks
Sizes for adults range from Small to X-Large

CHILD: Choice of: Boney Pirate; Captain Jack; Captain Hook; Buccaneer Girl; or Puffy Pirate Shirt & Captain Jack Hat with Dreadlocks
Sizes for children range from XX-Small to X-Large (sizes vary based on Costume)

The soft opening is by invitation only, mostly for MK. Unfortunately it's not something anyone CM can sign up for - but all are welcome to attend the grand opening.

The information I gave about this before was incorrect. Guests will not have an option of which photo is printed with the package and none will be put onto a Photopass. However, you can opt to take additional photos near the Pirate Tutorial afterwards, those will be placed on a Photopass.

The CM I spoke with last night said there were going to be two girl options for costumes, of course Pirate Wench is the only one I can remember, sorry! But I did ask and she stated there are costumes for grown ups as well.

Yep - two costumes... I wanted to elaborate more on what I said before. One DOES have pants, it's a buccaneer costume currently available for the girls. The other is an exclusive from the league, which is a pink wench dress.
