dvc stopped mailing the new pins..legal problems...just got off the phone with my salesman...he said only 20% of members got them..

he did not say...he said that no one will be getting them anymore...also that they will be very valuable...

I just got mine today.

Let's hope that your salesman was misinformed and that everyone gets them.

I'd like to hope this is going to be a valuable pin, but I seriously doubt it. The numbers are against that. If only 20 % got them, that's at least 20,000 pins. A rare pin is 500-1000 limited edition. But, who knows, demand could push it up.

Interesting........

If true, I guess the person who bought the pin on
eBay for $112 got a good deal.

Hope everyone gets one and this rumor is wrong.

Dizzy, love your avatar.

We got our pins yesterday and they look great, although the stars and stripes kind of tended to "commemorate" something I didn't need to be reminded of.

As for the pins being "valuable," how many times have you heard someone say that about a pin, but then have you ever actually found anyone willing to buy any of your pins (or any "collectible") for more than you paid? Like all "collector's items" the money seems to flow only one way: out of your pockets. In terms of pins I decided their "value" lies only in whether you think they look cool.

Cheers :)

I hope this is not true and DVC will figure this problem out. I'm still waiting and hoping for mine. As all other DVC members who have not recieved theirs yet. :(

Well, it would be nice to receive the pins but I have a feeling my pins may be sitting in the Trenton post office waiting for decontamination. If that is so we may never see them anyway. It's the least of my worries right now. We haven't even received any mail in the last few days. I am worried about all those good people who are processing our mail. I hope for the best for them! We leave for our first ever visit as DVC members in 13 days. It's one nice thing to look forward to!

I had pluto109's information confirmed by a "reliable source."

Apparently, there were complaints from some members that it was inappropriate for Disney/DVC to associate DVC & Mickey with such a tragic event.

I, on the other hand, don't agree with this opinion, and am very disappointed that I will not be receiving my pins.

Who is against this? I think it is nice to show that Disney and DVC express support to the tragedies of 9/11.

there is always another voice out there saying something that never crossed your mind! I just received my pins yesterday. Today I called my guide to thank him for the DVC's nice gesture. I really liked the pins! Now, I suppose if my relatives were living in Afghanistan I wouldn't be too thrilled, but in the wake of people not wanting to travel cause of Sept 11, I thought it was encouraging.

I was at a resort using DVC points on 9-11-01. Not only did the resort go out of their way to have things for the kids and families to do since the parks were closed, MS also allowed me to cancel a few nights without losing my points. So ... when I got my pins the first thing I did was e-mail MS with a thank you note. I praised the pins and their wonderful service to DVC members at this difficult time.

My suggestion is, if you like the pins and enjoy wearing them (especially if they remind you of a wonderful DVC vacation, or if MS somehow helped you during this difficult time by letting you retain points from a canceled ressie) then TELL them. Why is it the complainers always win? I guess because sometimes we forget to tell them how much we appreciate what they do for us.

(now, don't flame me. I know lots of you have sent MS thank you e-mails. It just amazes me that people are actually complaining about these pins - DVC is giving them to us, not charging us inflated (or otherwise) prices for them. Let's let them realize that the complainers are in the minority .. at least I hope they are!)

We were very happy when we received our pins and suprised that we received 2 of them.

I also thought it was a very nice touch and I agree with you Califgirl.

You will not see our pins on E-bay, just on our lapels.

What kind of moron would complain about these pins? It's not as if they're selling them--even if they were, big deal. I think they're wonderful and I'm so happy to have two. :earsboy:

Basically someone will always find a reason to complain about something. Usually when there's good intentions too. Ever notice how Disney is always such an easy target for people? The economy is down. There's layoffs all over the place. Disney does a little belt tightening and temporarily stops EE, E-Tick night and cuts back on hours. Disappointing, yes. Upsetting if you are the type to plan your Disney vacation down to each individual minute and were counting on EE? Yeah, it's upsetting. But geez, Disney is not the evil empire. They aren't out to screw us all over and rake in the profits by giving us less magic than we're used to. They aren't trying rip people off. Give them a break. All the anger I've been reading...the calls for boycotting WDW....the complaining and whining....it's pathetic.

The pins were free. Yet it was not free for Disney to design, manufacture and distribute them. They did it as a gesture to their extended "family" during these troubling times. If they did nothing, you'd probably hear complaints that they should have done something. The DVC has always tried to treat their members like family.

Hmm...I wonder if the complaints were from non-American DVC members? Or did they not send the pins to non-American DVC members? You see how impossible it is to do ANYTHING politically correct anymore?

Well I also appreciate the gesture and we're very happy with our pins.....and you won't find them on eBay either!
