If you would like to see new photos of Diversions, The Stack, and the Internet Cafe click on here, New MAGICal Photos. The last 15 photos in this album were just sent in from fellow DIS'er Kaitlinsmom upon her return this week. I was asked if I could post these photos for Kaitlinsmom, for everyone to see.

Thanks Andy! We were on the cruise with Kaitlinsmom. Just an FYI: Cove Cafe has a REALLY nice travel coffee mug that costs $10.00 with a drink in it. The Frapaccinos are YUMMY! We considered that a really good deal.

This travel coffee mug you speak of, does it have the Disney Cruise Line logo on it?

Is it just me or does The Stack look rather bland and unthemed? I never really spent any time in the ESPN Club but at least that was all-out themed. The Stack just looks gray... Almost institutional gray!

As a parent who will have 2 sons that will be going to The Stack on our cruise next summer, I've been waiting anxiously to see what the new teen lounge looks like.

I agree...it's very bland. Bland isn't necessarily bad. Teens wouldn't want a place that looked childish or overly themed, but I think maybe they went overboard in the other direction. The table and chairs are colorful....and I'm thinking it's possible that in the evenings they have good lighting, maybe some colored lights or something...

I saw the 3 internet spots, and some tables, chairs, and several tv monitors. I thought there were going to be screens where the teens could play video games on a "big screen"??

I'm going to withhold further judgement until I see reviews from some teens themselves. I'm really hoping the programming can make up for what looks like a lack in environment for the teens.

P.S. A while back, there was speculation that the teen lounge was going to be accessible ONLY by teens, meaning that parents and anyone other than the teens on board would be literally locked out of the elevator that takes you to The Stack. Has anyone found out if this is true or not??

P.P.S.:

Thanks Andy, for posting those pictures for us!! :wave2:

I think that might be true. When we tried riding up to see it, we got on the elevator with a teen. When the button wouldn't light up, she stuck her card in the slot in the elevator to push the button so it would work.

I don't know about the elevator but there are stairs up to The Stack which we used to go up for a look at the beginning of the week.

Tell us more KEH!

What was your impression of the new area???

To be honest, I didn't have more than a very brief look. It certainly seemed better to me than the old Common Grounds, nicer decor and so on.

My daughter didn't enjoy the club at all; she didn't last year either when it was Common Grounds. All the "tribal team" stuff just isn't her thing. My 2 boys spent more time there but they tended to use the Stack as a meeting place and then go off round the ship with the friends they had made up there, rather than stay in the club.

The area seems nice enough but I guess it's just not my kids' cup of tea.

For parents who are paranoid about not being able to get their kids out of there, here's an explanation.

One of the elevators goes all the way up and actually opens into the club itself. It was this way when it was the ESPN club. To get that floor button to light up, yes, the teens must use their kttw card to do so. And only a teen's card will do this. The reason being is to not have adults or little kids randomly dropping in on what is a teen space.

Now there is a stairwell up to the club from the Deck 10 elevator stop that anyone can walk up to, and if a parent is looking for thier kid, that's where they'll go to do so.

Thanks for that explanation Mark! That sounds reasonable to me; give the teens an amount of privacy but still allow parents to retrieve their kids, if necessary. (I'm hoping it won't be necessary. LOL)

where is Diversions and Cove Cafe located? What is the theme of each?

Thanks

Thanks Andy for posting these, I know you are not feeling well and I hope you are getting better!!

When I took these pictures, the CM told me that they weren't quite finished yet - But what else they had to do, I am not sure - My daughter loved it there - Never saw here - We did have to check on her numerous times (she can't be completely trusted yet - she is a bit immature for her age) - We had two way radios and went up those stairs several times - Never had a problem being let in to check on her -

As far as curfew, we did it on a day to day basis - Her attitude, if she checked in on time, etc - That worked out well for us -

They do have video games there for the kids to play - I believe they are in the area were the stadium seating used to be for the ESPN Zone - There was a ladder and some construction equipment in there at the time, so I didn't go in -

Karen,

Feeling much better today thanks!!! The wonders of modern medicine!!!

I was glad to get your photos posted. I enjoyed looking at them myself. Will be showing the photos of "The Stack" to my DD 13, she enjoyed Common Grounds on our recent cruise this past August.

Karen:

Thanks so much for this additional info on The Stack. :)

Andy:

I hope you're all better soon!! :wave2:

Threecircles- The travel coffee mug says The Cove on one side, and Disney Cruise Line on the other, Mickey head and all. They are stainless steel inside, and like a ceramic bake on the outside. You have a choice of blue, dark green, or a purplish color.

Laurenk--

Thanks for the info. The mugs sound really nice. I'll have to put them on my list of things to buy as I am an avid coffee drinker and also commute in the morning. Add those two things together and I need several travel coffee mugs! Plus, who could beat the DCL logos! :)

Currently I have a couple from Walt Disney World but I'm always on the lookout for new ones.
