New perfume ideas?? **Final update, page 3, 12/28 and again, thanks**

Dan,
If you would think she would like something by Estee Lauder they have a set with smaller vials of perfume in a gift set ( I think there are about 6 different scents in the package) and this way she could try several new ones. I saw alot of people buying that set today, and I thought what a great idea.
I always wear Spellbound by Estee Lauder or Design by Paul Sebastian.

Hi Dan,

Just putting in my votes for either Ralph Lauren Style or Dior J'Adore. Both bery nice and floral like L'Air du Temps, but different enough to give a try.

Perry Ellis 360. Whenever I smell it all I can think of are bed linens that were line dried in the sun. :sunny:

Samsara has been my favorite for years it's by Guerlain, it's from Paris. They sell it in Macy's, Fileens, and France at Epcot!
I'm familiar with L´Air du Temps, I used to buy that before I found Samsara and I've never bought anything else since! I think Marie will like it.
They are both on the same flowery, but soft scent yet they are different.
Samsara, I'm going to go put some on!

The newest fragrance in my collection is L'Eau D'Issey by Issey Miyaki, I absolutely love this scent. I also like Giorgio Armani's Aqua di Gio, which is light and fresh. I have also been known to buy Happy by Clinique. I recently had a sample of Vera Wang that was a little stronger than I like, but nice none-the-less. Oh, I can't forget a new fragrance that I tried from a magazine sample, it was Promesse by Cacharel, it was really nice.

Good luck, Dan, picking a new fragrance is not an easy task.

Wow, you guys are great. I will need to print this thread and head to the store, maybe Sephora's. Looks like they sell a lot of fragrances there (never heard of that place) and we have several near us up here in the suburbs. That is a neat idea too, Stink, I will look into that, as well as try and smell as many of these listed here. :faint: Yikes!!!!!! I best bring a bunch of coffee beans, good suggestion there, TurboKitty. Lynn, Marie used to wear Shalimar by Guerlain when we were dating, I smell it when I stop in France in Epcot. :goodvibes And good to know what one that was that Natalie wears, it is nice.

Thanks guys, I have my work cut out for myself.

Most of your better perfume sellers have jars of coffee beans ready for you right at their counters.

If Marie used to wear Shalimar (and my memory is correct) she probably leans towards the stronger spicier scents. My choices listed above are more on the sweet side. Out of all of the ones I listed I would only consider Vera Wang and maybe the new version of Issey Miyaki (I think it is blue) on the stronger side. Again, good luck and have fun. :)

Dan, I think Perfumania has better deals than Sephora. The closest one to you is at Woodfield Mall.

I like "Pleasures" by Estee Lauder and "Eternity" by Calvin Klein. My Mom has both of them and they smeel awesome. If you want to get something a little sweeter smelling, Victoria's Secret has some good one's like:

Body
Sexy for Her
Pink....

And others that I can't think of. :confused3 :flower:

I asked for "Fantasy" by Britney Spears for Christmas. It smells good, also.

Good Luck! :goodvibes ;)

Another good one by Guerlain is Champs-Elysees, I wore it for many years. I also love Very Irrestible by Givenchy.

Good luck with your choice. It looks like you have more scents here than you could posssible smell! ;)

Shopping for this is done. :cool1: I did stop by one of the local Sephora stores (thought I would have a fragrance headache before I left :faint: ). It was near my office in Northbrook and I did stop at the office yesterday, so it was convenient. I had never heard of that store. They were very helpful. I did bring a copy of this thread and asked about a good number of the fragrances mentioned and smelled a LOT of them. And did the coffee bean thing too, LOL; never heard of that before, but it did seem to help (though did feel the need to get a Starbucks afterward, LOL :rotfl2: )

I learned about 'notes' and several other things I never heard of or knew about. :confused3 I left more learned about perfume than I ever thought I would be. Just this thread alone educated me a lot, you guys are helpful.

Anyway, based on the 2 scents mentioned in the OP, along with a couple Marie has liked years ago, and the lady checking her book for similars, one she came up with was Chanel's Allure. It was about the 3rd or so scent she showed me. After maybe smelling 20 different ones (I did ask about that sampler idea, she thought the scents there were not in Marie's likes), I came back to the Allure a couple times. After asking if it could be returned and exchanged for something else if she does not like it and getting a 'yes', I decided on that. We'll see how Marie likes it.

Again, thanks so much for the fragrance education, one can get an answer to anything here. And Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. :wave2:

Excellent choice Dan! Really - ya can't go wrong with ANYTHING Chanel! :)

Sephora has a GREAT return policy...do not fret with that.

So glad to hear that you were able to find something for Marie. I have never heard of this store, Sephora, but it sounds like a great store from what I have read here. You will have to give us all an update after Marie opens her present and let us know what she thinks.

Happy Holidays!!

Sarah

I just got Fantasy from my sister for Christmas and I LOVE it!! I'm not a huge fan of Britney, but the perfume is awesome and the bottle looks really cool too.

LOL, Dan. Would you believe that I used to wear Allure all the time?! it was the most expensive I ever bought but I loved it. I hope Marie does also.

BTW, your post(above) was fun to read!!

As the TV kids used to say about Mikey in the Life cereal commercial from years ago.................

She liked it!!! :cool1:

Thanks for all your help and ideas.

LOL! I just saw this post now. Allure is what I wear. I love it! I'm glad Marie did too. :goodvibes Good choice, Dan.
