Oftentimes, I get Marie some perfume as one of her Christmas gifts. She has used both L´Air du Temps, by Nina Ricci, and Norell, by Norell, for many, many years (she's like me, we don't like change too much, LOL). She asked me to use my judgement ( :scratchin) and maybe get something new. Any ideas, knowing, if you do, the fragrance of those two mentioned above? I know I posted a couple months back of a fragrance that I liked that Natalie used (I forget what it is right now), but so not think that is Marie's type.

The DIS to the rescue.

I'm not sure what either of those smell like, but have you taken a whiff of either Happy or Happy Heart by Clinique? :)

I'm also partial to Pink Bluejeans by Versace.

YMMV.

I love cinnabar by estee lauder, but i'm not much for the "flowery, sweet" perfumes. Cinnabar is spicy, and smells wonderful!

I LOVE
Happy and Beautiful

but i just bought my mom Attraction by Lancome it is wonderful

good luck with this one Dan - it is SUCH a personal thing!!!!

Dan, maybe you should head to the local Sephora and start sniffing. :flower:

Sorry I am no help here. I really like "Maybe Baby", but I can't remember who makes it. But I think it's more of a "fun" scent. Seems like she likes more classy, classic fragrances.

Good luck with this. Let us know what you get. :)

Frangrances react differently to people's chemistry. I'd suggest getting the smallest bottle of more than one scent, for her to try.

I also like Clinique's Happy and Versace's Blonde. Then again, there are some perfumes I cannot wear. Dior's Opium smells like someone threw up on me and gives me a horrible rash. I get a rash from anything by Estee Lauder. Dior's Poison smells like grape Kool Aide on me, and CK's Obscession on me smells just like Play-Doh.

Find two or three you like, and get the absolute smallest size. (Even trial sized vials, if you can, for her stocking.) Let her know that which ever one works best ON HER, you'll purchase for her.

L'air De Temps is a rather floral scent isn't it? Blonde is a nice gardenia type scent. Happy is a light, citrus-y smell, like oranges. And, lastly, don't try to overwhelm your nose in one day. Bring something you like the smell of, like a few coffee beans or something, to clear your nose between scents.

Jaipur Saphir by Boucheron. It's my absolute favorite.

Check out Sephora.com - you can search scents, by scent type.... so, find
L´Air du Temps and see what *type* of scent it is, and find a similar type.

L´Air du Temps is a floral - I'd go with another floral. Vera Wang is a nice one...very pretty.

My mother used to wear Norell and L'Air Du Temps. Now she wears Design.

Benefit makes that

Might I suggest this?

Sephora fragrance for her

Basically - it's a bunch of trial size ones...and a "voucher" for the full size one of the scent she likes.

:)

The Sephora Fragrance Gift For Her includes nine samples of our top selling women’s fragrances to try, plus a gift voucher of equal value that can be redeemed at any Sephora store for a full size bottle of any one of the samples included.

Samples include: Dior Addict 2, Stella McCartney Stella, Lolita Lempicka, Curious Britney Spears, L'Instant de Guerlain, Marc Jacobs Perfume, Very Irresistible Givenchy, Clean, and Robert Piguet Fracas.

How it works:
1. Purchase the Fragrance Gift For Her either as a gift, or for yourself.
2. Sample the fragrances and choose a favorite.
3. Fill in the enclosed voucher.
4. Bring the voucher in to your local Sephora store and redeem it for the fragrance you’ve chosen.

Thats's a REALLY good idea!

:flower:

Hmmm...is it too late to put that on my Christmas list???? :rolleyes1

:rotfl: am I the only one that sees the irony that "stinker"bell has the best idea for a perfume gift? :rotfl:

You know what would be nice too - that is similar to L'air - Flower, by Kenzo.

Donna Karan's Cashmere mist has a wonderful scent. It is not a sweet, flowery perfume.

My favorite is "simple" by clinique
if she likes florals I also like caroline herrera.
