New PC

I'm getting a new home PC tomorrow

Finally getting rid of my Windows ME for XP. New PC has a 256Mb graphics card, 120Gb HD and 512Mb RAM, so should be a little faster and a bit more stable than my old PIII 866

I'm keeping my 17" monitor for a while until I an afford to replace it with a nice 17" TFT

Motherboard has built in Firewire, so I will be able to hookup my new digital camcorder

...... it doesn't seen so long ago when you bought the 'old' one from Dell!!! I remember you having to get the hard drive replaced? Or something like that ?!

It's from a local shop that builds to order

The motherboard is an ASUS A7N8XE-Delux with a Athlon 2800XP processor, 400Mhz FSB. The HD is a Maxtor 120Mb 7200rpm with 8Mb cache.

It's hard to beat a bit of upgrading, great ego-booster I say! I recently changed everything in my tower with the exception of the dvd-rom drive and the performance difference is phenomenal!! ECS L4S5MG motherboard with Pentium 4 1.6ghz CPU, 512 MB SDRAM and 256mb NVidia GeForce FX5500 graphics card (all for £150 courtesy of my mate who was upgrading his own pc!), 120gb Maxtor 7200 rpm hard drive, new case from aria.co.uk, and an NEC 40x cd writer (again second-hand, but barely used!). Oh yeah, I also got a cool black Microsoft multimedia keyboard for £15 instead of £30 thanks to some incorrect price labelling in our local Currys store!! When it all came together it was like going from propellor-driven flight to Concorde! Boot-up time is down from 4.5 minutes to 42 seconds!! I am one happy bunny

I've got it and it seems to work OK - not alot on it at the moment. Just hooked up the internet and logged on to the DIS (got my priorities right LOL)

Know what you mean about moving up to Concorde. We got a new HP Pavilion t450 (2.8 GHz Pentium 4) back in May and 2 weeks ago got broadband - 1 megabit too.
