DB passport has 5 months 3 weeks and 2 days left on it when we go to america so has to get a new passport(I think as 6 months are needed so I understand:confused3).Anyway does he have to buy a new esta or can the existing one be updated?

Hi,

If it is a british passport then you passport just needs to be valid for the length of your stay ( I went to the US with 4 months remaining on my passport last year with no problems or questions then renewed my passport 2 months later.)

Regards

No im not sir wayne i aint got time:happytv:. He has an irish passport by the way so i guess a new esta is needed yes?

If you are cruising I think the Bahamas require at least 6 months left on your passport. My DH is renewing his for this reason.

Alyson, tell your DB he's very complicated when it comes to travel :lmao:

You can say that again, Irish passport and a cruise, just trying to test me :rotfl2:

Virgins advise for an Irish passport with entry to the Bahamas.
Passport required.
- Passports and/or passport replacing documents must be valid
for period of intended stay.

Bahamas Gov website. As far as I can see a valid passport to have a return or onward ticket, and a document which will permit them to enter another country (e.g. valid passport). They may also be asked to produce evidence of sufficient funds to allow them to sustain themselves whilst in The Bahamas

99% cretain you don't need 6 months if you get off in the Bahamas, 100% certain if you stay on the ship.
Been to the Bahamas about 5 times, I would say the most relaxed immigration in the world, half the time they don't even look at the passport just wave you thru.
On the other had if you want to renew passport the 5 months he has remaining will be added to a new one giving you 10 years 5 months.

So if a new passport do I need a new esta.Gonna go for the new one like you say will last 10 years and 5 months.Thankyou all again.xx

Yes, new passport needs a new ESTA as he will have a new passport number and it's mandatory field on the ESTA, i.e. cannot be amended or updated.

Just look at you now :thumbsup2 Last year you were so worried; this year you are asking all the right questions and have everything under control. :)

They approved the last one. Assuming nothing has changed, this will be no different. And at least this time you know everyone has to pay. ;)
