Sorry if this has been posted, couldn't see anything.
We checked into the Fairfield Inn, Marriott Village a couple of days ago, prepaid rate a few week ago. On checkin I was told there was now a $5/nt parking fee. I said I wasn't aware of it when booking so she waived the fee.
Stayed here about 6 times now but will probably be my last, I don't agree with a nightly parking fee. For August I am looking for a 25 night stay, 2 rooms with 2 cars so they will want to add $250, I will find somewhere else.

While I have never stayed there, I always considered Marriott Village as an offsite option. Im going to cross it off my list now, thanks for sharing!

It might be free if you book through the Mousesavers.com discount; the shuttles are free if you use their package and I think parking is as well, plus a daily food credit.

I don't see how off site hotels can justify a parking fee, you already have to drive and pay to park at the parks and now you have to pay a double parking fee to park at your hotel as well? That's just going to drive people to stay on site.

Good to know. This is usually an option for us to stay on our arrival day (We drive and arrive to Orlando in late afternoon, so we like to stay off-site one night before we move hotels).

Considering it was around $75 a night cheaper to stay there then a Disney 'value' I think I can pay. This won't drive me to pay Disney more just to save the fee. LOL

I had a reservation booked there but later canceled it when I decided to stay 2 nights at Disney. It wasn't until I went to cancel that I saw the $5/night parking fee. Like others have said, an off-site with a parking fee doesn't interest me.

boy they added the parking fee to the Marriott world center several years ago - really though the Village was safe.

this might be the start of others hotel adding parking fees.

We stay at Marriotts all the time and I would never stay at one in FL that charged a parking fee- when there is another one within 3 miles that does not charge a parking fee!:confused3

That is definitely new and I haven't seen it posted anywhere. I wonder if they waive it for the elite members? With your 25 nights, plus a credit card that gives you 15 nights credit, you could be silver easily, and only 10 short for gold. It may help.

I also wonder if the other Marriott properties are going this route...The ones on Palm, where we usually stay.

Thanks for the heads up OP.

I will never pay a parking fee. Do they really need to nickel and dime us for every little thing? I can see paying a cleaning fee if staying in somebody's vacation home but not a fee for my car to sit on pavement. It already irks me that the parks all charge so much to park.

That's my thought too! THe off-site resorts with resort fees are basically charging for parking and nothing offered by Disney is "free," it's pre-paid in the higher site cost so it's a balancing act really.

The parking fee is what made me decide on the Quality Suites. SHS was about the same price, and I know it better, but I won't pay the parking fee. I know it's only $5 a day, but it's just wrong.

Personally, they should pay me to park there. If you've ever stayed in the village you know hard hard it is to get out of the lot. Esp making a left turn.

The only thing I can think of it is to cover the security guard costs. I consider it very safe. Just more corporate greed.
