I thought this may be helpful, since my packing strategy has now changed due to the new policies. If people post their ideas and tips, maybe we can all benefit from them :sunny:

So post your ideas as to what works for you and your family.

What I am considering is this. My DH and I were going to bring carry on's only on our upcoming trip. With the new regulations, this will be impossible. I think I am going to ship all our "liquids" Fed Ex to the resort the day before. This way we can still bring carry on's and not have the hassle of waiting on the long check in lines at the airports, and waiting for our luggage as there is a lot more checked baggage now. I may even ship my blow dryer (a must for me at WDW, their wall mounted ones stink) and a few shoes too...more room for clothes ;)

I don't know what I am going to do without being able to bring some kind of gloss or chapstick. I was thinking about buying the lipgloss that is in a ring :rotfl2: It is a costume ring that opens up and there is a small pan of gloss inside.

I totally understand the "carry-ons only" mentality. That's what I have always done. (OT, but this is because I know too many people who have lost their luggage when they checked it).

Anyways, if the "No Liquids" rule is still in effect when we go in less than an month, we will only check a bag that will have all of our liquids in it (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, sunscreen, lotions, makeup, contact solution, and any other liquids or gels that I have forgotten to list).

If this is still an issue in February, I'm planning to carry on a bag with a change of clothes.

I'll just add toothpaste,soap... to the list of items that will be delivered by gardengrocer.com.

I am so glad we drive. I totally understand the need for these kind of regulations. It is going to be a pain for my DH when he flies on business. But it also makes me so much happier and even appreciate the fact that we drive when we go to WDW.

Chapsticks are ok to bring onboard, just not the gel variety of lip glosses/squeeze tubes of Carmex/etc. See here: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/new-items.shtm
You'll have to scroll down a bit, but it clearly says "solid lip glosses and blushes are allowed."

Yeah but lots of the local TSA agents are just taking them. Once again consistency is NOT exactly a hallmark of our security screening!!! (WHY aren't those items sold in the so called "sterile" zones safe to take on the plane? Becasue the TSA is CLUELESS????)

By the way.......I have never FedEx'd anything to the resorts before. We are staying at the CR concierge level. Do I call the IPO and tell them, maybe have the package delivered to them? Who do you send it to and how do you retrieve your package?? We will be checking in on a Sunday so it will have to be a Saturday delivery to the resort.

Since we have our own Fed Ex account and get a considerable discount....why not!

What I'm planning to do is continue to do only carry ons for the trip-My mom is meeting me at the airport in Chicago from Columbus and will only have an hour between flights. She will not have time to recheck bags. Besides, I hate having to wait by baggage claim with your heart in your throat wondering if your bags will still be there. We will just buy the liquid stuff when we do our grocery stop with Sunray private car. It may cost a little bit more, but better than having to deal with checking bags

My husband travels tomorrow from Atlanta to LAX. He's taking a couple of reading items on the plane and that's it. But it's great to know he can take his Chap-Stick. That's the only thing neither one of us can live without. Thanks for the link - he'll be so happy he can have that Chap-Stick!

We too only do the carry ons. I'm between shipping down some stuff and buying it there when we get there.

You know what the worst part though is; not being able to bring home the mickey soaps. I could just cry.

I'm glad I'm not the only one addicted to Chap Stick! Whew, what a relief. That was the only thing I was really worried about not being able to take with me.

I don't mind sacrificing a chap stick or two...buy my Chanel lipsticks are getting shipped for sure. The security is so inconsistent that one agent may allow it and another may dump it. I am not taking a chance at $26 per tube!

I have also found the security lines to be a nightmare at MCO even at off-peak times....UGGGHHHH.....I think it's a tie with LAS (vegas)...just horrible. I can only imagine how this is going to slow things down. We always leave from JFK, they may be long lines I have found the security at JetBlue terminal to be very organized and quick but quite NASTY.

When I traveled last June I rolled all my shampoos and hairgels and such in with my clothes, didn't seem to take up to much extra room.

To many of us going for to many days to even try and get away with not taking extra bags. *sigh*

Chewing gum isn't being banned right?
