We just got back from a DCL 4night and signed up for 240 pt with AKV. We had no intentions of doing this when we stepped onboard. In fact, we knew nothing about it but heard that there was a chance for $300 onboard credit if we listened to the presentation. Afterward, it definitely sounded like something that would fit for our family of 5. So, we got 240 pts for $104 ea. , $500 gift card (could have been $1000 if we went for 320), an extra 240pts to use next year only, no dues until may 2009. Sound like a good deal. Then we came home and began reading the boards with resale prices. We are not really having second thoughts, but wondering if this was infact a "good deal" in comparison to other ones out there. Our paperwork should arrive in a couple of days and we will need to sign it quickly...

We are looking forward to being part of this family and can't wait to make our first reservation with AKV!!!

Let me be the first to say :welcome: and Congratulations!

I can't speak to which way is better to purchase (we purchased directly through Disney) - both have their pros/cons. Sounds like you got some good incentives and also got credit on your cruise as well!

Enjoy many years of memories :goodvibes

You don't need to sign it quickly. You already bought based upon emotion and that is sometimes a bad thing to do. Take your time and do the numbers for yourself. If it still makes sense then Welcome Home, if it doesn't, cancel the purchase.

You got the standard deal except for the $8/pt discount. (for a referral I think) But what you listed is the same I got, except for the discount. You should only pay $96/pt with that. Call your guide and ask about it. I'll be your referral if you need one.

sorry, I forgot to mention the $8 per point discount. We got that as well and added it to our down payment. Glad to know there was no other discounts we have missed.

With resale there is no guarantee of points being available for use now. I find that points on resale tend to be 'stripped' the majority of the time or barely have anything left and you have to wait a year and sometimes more to get your full points, IMHO. I think disney is a way better deal than resale, again in my opinion.

i think you got the "standard" deal and from here its up to you. Take a look at all of the various DVC resale places and see if you can find a contract that meets what you want and really is a good deal.

Do the homework and go from there! in the meantime, Welcome Home neighbor!! :flower3:
